I am not sure how long it's been but my battery has always lost some of its capacity within days/weeks of not using the car.
I haven't really thought about it as we have not used the car for many years.
I am currently getting it our of mothballs and plan on using it as our grocery getter in San Diego.

We are not at our condo in San Diego typically for a couple of weeks out of the month and we go out of the country for 2 months in the winter.
I know the siren is a big problem and I am disconnecting that.
What are other draws that might be unecessary?
The clock never keeps the corrrect time even when using.

When out of town for a couple of months, should I disconnect the battery.
Will this cause problems witht the SKREEM?
Hopefully, I am getting my own SKREEM issue fixed sooon and I would like to not have to deal with that again.

how did you solve it?
I programmed my skreem another key but it continues the same.

I just did the same thing - trying to reduce the battery draw. After I removed the siren and fixed a short in my aftermarket alarm system, the quiescent draw (i.e., after the computers have gone to sleep) was down to ~30mA (0.030 amps) from around 0.25 amps. Less than 50mA is considered good. At a drain rate of 30mA your battery voltage will drop to around 10V in about 25 days which is probably too low to start the car (the calculation was done assuming a 48 amp hour battery capacity and 12V initial charge). So, if you plan on leaving the car parked for more than a month, either disconnect the battery or get a trickle charger. I use the cheap 1W solar charger from Harbor Freight.

My car is in condo building parking space, so no elecricity to leave trickle charge and no sunlight.
I guess, I'll have to disconnect battery and jump it when I get back.

 

If you physically disconnect the battery, I recommend disconnecting the negative terminal from the car. Disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery eliminates the chances of an accidental spark from the positive terminal touching any metal parts of the car. If your battery is in good shape and physically disconnected from the car, the battery should hold a charge for several months and you shouldn't require a jump from another battery or car. Still, it is a good idea to carry jumper cables in a car that is parked for a long time. Good luck!
