Default Homelink Garage Door opener dead

Hi all, the garage door opener in my newly acquired 2007 Crossfire Coupe SRT is seemingly dead. The indicator LED is inactive, even if I try the button re-programme sequence.

How can I check if the unit is working but the LED is broken, or if the unit is even still wired up?

Thanks

Search for a post by magneticred. The title is Training the Homelink to work

Thanks - Yes I did use the search bar in the forum and google, but I can only find references to programming homelink, which all assume the LED works. Mine does not.

Newer door openers do not work with the CF door opener, they changed the frequency on the door opener receivers some time back.
You need a converter of some kind, about $50 I think.
I assume the hand held openers work, that’s what I have in the car.

I got my homelink to work with a newer door opener. The house I purchased was built in 2021. I just followed the instructions in the PDF Training the Homelink to work.

Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't the homelink module be 'lighting the LED up' anytime you try to program, if the module is good? I didn't think the LED only worked when the module synced to an opener.

Thank you GraphiteGhost! You have made the core of my question much clearer than I appear to have done. My homelink unit NEVER lights up. No matter what. So I cannot even start trying to program. I guess I'll have start from scratch and test if it is getting power.

An auto electrician was doing a few things for me on the car, and discovered that the homelink unit is not plugged into anything. Anyone know what it should plug into?

Up under the headliner where the Homelink module is, there should be the connector your looking for. There should be two, one for the TPMS receiver and one for the Homelink module. They are probably wrapped in foam to keep rattles down. Might be a previous owner pulled the plug thinking the TPMS system was disconnected? Careful popping out the lamp, Homelink module, TPMS module, and any wiring there inside the headliner. Good luck!

Hello there HumanMode, I have a 2004 coupe and exactly the same thing happened to me about six months ago. The Homelink unit in my car just stopped working, fuses OK, no light flashing when pressing any of the 3 buttons. Found a good used unit on eBay for under 40 bucks and swapped it out and that unit is working like a charm now. Obviously I had to reprogram the garage door opener, but it’s been working perfectly ever since I swapped it out.

HOWEVER - replacement unit caused another issue! The TPMS computer is part of the home link garage door opener unit and it was looking for the donor cars codes for each of the TMS sensors. Right after I replaced it, my TMS light came on. There was nothing wrong with any of my sensors - all the batteries are good and sending their hex signal to the receiver.
A huge “thank you” to John Schmidt who has the necessary tools to have the TPMS reviving unit relearn the TPMS sensor codes.

If you replace ur homelink, you’ll have to run the relearn program (or stare at the warning light)

here’s what the hex codes look like for my car - let me know if you have any questions, cheers. Andres

Thanks onehundred80 - my garage doors are only five years old, so they probably won't work with homelink. It may even be why a previous owner disconnected it from power.
So yup, I'll just carry a door fob in the car. Not quite as neat, but it works.

Thank you abergero, sorry for the tardy reply as my homelink inquiry was swamped by what turned out to be the dreaded RCM issue.

Your post will definitely help others in a similar situation to us. There's a lot on the forum about programming the homelink, but not much about if the unit is not working.

Another reply made a good point about powering and testing the unit with my garage doors before removing the headliner to reconnect it. If they don't work with homelink, there would be no point plugging it in.

I've resolved to just keep a door fob in the car. Not quite as tidy and nifty, but it works.
