No crank no start issue
Hello everyone,
I'm currently struggling with my crossfire, I have a
2004 Chrysler Crossfire that ran very well with no issues whatsoever so ever. After leaving for a field training for the army for 3 weeks I returned to the car doing the classic SKREEM issue. I sent it into the Mercedes swap shop where he fixed the code and sent it back. The car still didn't start after install. I then replaced the battery, and it started right up, drive down the road and it turned off at a red light. I towed it back and re evaluated because now it was cranking but not starting and the battery died after a few attempts. I then swapped the crank shaft position sensor, re-soldered the RCM and I put in a brand new alternator. It started up again and then did a no crank no start when attempting to leave work the following day. I attempted it a few days later and it started up with a slight stutter. I was able to drive it 10 miles home. Now it it sitting no crank no start. I have no clue what else to do to it to get it running again. I am in serious need of this vehicle as my job requires that I have a reliable working car. I'm trying to fix it so I can get rid of it already. Please HELP if you have any suggestions!!!

Go here and read the Mystery No Start thread. There is more to the RCM repair than just soldering. The relays themselves go bad. tighed1 repairs the RCM and makes improvements. Many of us carry a spare in the glove compartment and a spare Crank Position Sensors as well. RCM repair
You must use a Bosch Crankshaft Position Sensor! If you bought one from an auto parts store it will go bad and you will have the same problem you are having now. USE ONLY BOSCH CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.
If you can scan the car for Diagnostic Codes (DTC) do it. The camshaft position sensor will throw it's own code.
Check all the wiring from/to the battery for good corrosion free connections. The negative ground near the battery, the connections at the battery, the connections at the alternator and the starter as well as the ground strap at the engine. ( It is under the car on the drivers side)
PS you are not far from good help, Telephone MATT he will come to you; Miami---MiamiMatt's mercedes & Crossfires All of the U S A ,,,will travel .786 877 5959 text will call u back

I would also replace the RCM. It is not only the solder joints that go bad but the relays wear out. The RCM controls a multitude of functions. After you put the new one in, send the old one to DJ and he will rebuild it for about $60.00 and carry it for a spare.
This just happened to my roadster after all these years. RCM. I am trying to get in touch with DJ to send mine out for repair. Everyone should be carrying a spare. My spare has been in the toolbox for 12 years. But it saved my butt.
Hi Brendan,
You never mentioned if your car is an automatic or stick. Some other items to add to the list of possible issues no crank, no start - damaged or broken wire on the CAN BUS, bad shift lever assembly (if it's an automatic), bad fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. The good news is all of these issue will throw a DTC code, so you should have a better idea as to what the issue is.
Good luck,
-Jerry
