Please help identifying seals on steel pipe near oil pan
Hi all, when checking why a thin smear layer oil was accumulating on the plastic pan under the engine of my SRT6 coupe, I discovered what looked like broken rubber seals at a junction on steel pipe running alongside the oil pan.
There is a very slight "fingertip" amount of oil on the rubber.
Aside from changing my oil, I'm not familiar with this part of the engine.
Can someone please identify what they are from the photos, and what I should do to fix or replace them.
Re: Please help identifying seals on steel pipe near oil pan
Thinking further, those probably aren't seals but rubber gussets that should be inside that steel bracket, to support the steel pipe / stop it rattling?
If so, the oil is coming very slowly from somewhere else - but the joins and caps at each end of that length of pipe are dry. Hmmm.
For full disclosure, I overfilled my last oil change, but lowered it to correct level about 1-2 weeks later.

Let me know what you think is happening, please.
Hi, I think it might be your breather cover seals.
Remove the engine cover, then look at the valve covers. On top of the valve covers are smaller breather covers. This is the most common place for oil to seep out of the engine. The valve covers can also leak. You can try Re-torquing the large bolts to 7 Foot Pounds/9.5 Newton Meters. See picture below.
If it is the breather covers, here is a link to my post on how I replaced the sealant. Breather covers & valve covers NOTE: When cleaning the breather covers, never use metal brushes or scrapers. The breather covers are magnesium alloy.

Thank you M60A3Driver. I'll check that out. I watched a guy on youtube doing all that to his M112. Bit of effort, but your tutorial looks excellent thanks.

I would agree with M60A3Driver ... I have the same leak and finally traced it back to the breather covers ... which is what everyone here kept telling me, someday maybe I'll learn to listen ... because of where yours is dripping I would check the breather cover straight above it ... but check both covers to be sure ...
