Concerned about dealer . . .
So tomorrow I'm taking my 04' into the dealer for what I think is the E19 TSB. Friday got in the car and the check engine light came on, so I pulled over popped the hood and sure enough the cooling fan was not running and the temp gauge was showing halfway. I drove the car home (2 miles) and called the dealer to set up an appointment. Now I've read on this forum about the lack of ability that the "dealer" has in working on our cars. Are there any lessons that you people out there can share with me to watch out for when taking my car to the dealer. (Specifically for the E19 TSB).
I hate, hate, having someone else work on my car, the only reason I'm taking it to the dealer is because I think it may be covered under the warrenty.
*Also, is the TSB supposed to cover the fan relay and or the fan itself ?!?!
Thanks in advance . . .

They should replace the fan motor assembly. When mine was done, the mechanic twisted off the clip that holds the wiring harness to the fan shroud (the idiot wasn't smart enough to unclip it). Had the service manager order a new shroud and give it to me to replace (took about 15-20 minutes). Others have had their air box/engine cover scratched from them mishandling it. Check it over good after the work is done and before you leave the service area. Good luck.
Which dealership are you taking it to in Tidewater. I just talked with one of they yesterday and they told me that the part for the fan was still backordered. I would like to get this "fixed" also, so if another dealership has the part I will go to them...Thanks and good luck.
It's really important to find a stealership that has a technician that is authorized and had the training for the Crossfires. It will be worth the drive to find one that is maybe 50 miles away, if they do good work. Hopefully, only serious warranty work would be done there. But, it's worth it in the long run. They are tough cars to work on and diagnose. Best to come to this board first to check any symptoms you might be having and THEN go to the stealership to tell them the details. They wouldn't be smart enough to research here like you will...
Sorry about the delay on the response, I got my car back a couple of days ago and everything is in good shape. (except for the nice grease stain in the headliner)!!! So apparently the cooling fan was not the problem?! The dealership pulled up codes p0410 2300 esp. 1200-101 and volt supply 03-20. They told me that there was a faulty signal from the battery connection that made the check engine light come on. I have never disconnected the battery since I've owned he car, honestly it kinda sounds like a line of crap but what am I to do?
BTW the dealership is Green Gifford in Norfolk, I don't know if they have the fan recall parts because my car didn't have the problem. (But I'm guessing they don't because there parts department sucks)!!
Thanks for the responses, lets keep helping all fellow Xfire owners!! (we need it) :P
