Default Squeaky Power windows

My '04 is just out of warranty. I took it in just before it expired for an annoying power window problem. Both driver and passenger windows squeak on going down and up. It's only noticeable when it's hot outside. Now that Denver has cooled off I don't hear it.
The technician said there was a TSB on this issue which said to adjust the window channels. He did this and cleaned some parts but I still have the squeak!
Does anyone have any experience on this??

Is it a metal-on-metal kind of squeak or glass-on-rubber?

drhrsh my 04' did that too and is what led to a falling out with my dealer after five years and three vehicles. To make a long story short the problem is with the weather stripping. Some of the weather stripping on the 04's became hard for whatever reason. It didn't appear to have anything to do with how you took care of your car, but rather something in the manufacturing. I believe there was either a recall or a Technical Service Bulletin you can find if you do a search. Once I had my weather stripping replaced by a qualified dealership the squeak was gone.

Can you tell me what weather stripping was the culprit. I have this too and need to order the part but I need to know what to order.

Thumbs up Re: Squeaky Power windows

knowit I have to say yes the weather stripping was the culprit in my case. I believe there was TSB or recall about the weather stripping on 04's floating around the forum recently.

Anyone found another solution to this? I just had my weather stripping around my drivers side window replaced since it was cracking, however the squeaking is still there during hot weather.

Both of my windows squealed (worse in hot weather). The dealer cleaned and lubed the regulators, no problems since.

My dealer cleaned mine and it didn't help. The sound is definitely glass on rubber, so I don't understand how lubing the regulators would help. Someone mentioned a TSB on faulty rubber seals that harden prematurely. I have been unable to find one on this forum. Can anyone help??

After the dealer replaced my drivers door window regulator, my window started squeaking really bad. So instead of dealing with them again, i got the service manual and found the window adjustment instructions and found it was way off. One quick check for you to do is look at the space between the door window and the rear side window {where the seal is}. There should be a even space between them about 9mm or 1/4 inch. And the top of the door the window shouldn't touch the top rain seal lip when the door is shutting.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check mine out today. The dealers technician said he checked the adjustment and it was fine. I'm a little more suspicious of seals, since it didn't do it for the first 2 years I owned the car.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I had my drivers side window start squeaking, and reading about the weather stripping possibly hardening and causing this, I used a q-tip with some Teflon Lube gel on it and coated the insides of the weather stripping that contacts the glass. I did this all around the window, not using a lot. Before you rush to do this, know that the teflon will streak the glass for awhile while raising and lowering. Even using windex, its a tough removal. Finally got it off by carefully using a paper towel with acetone on it (just damp, not dripping). Was this worth it? As of now (2 weeks later), smooth as silk with NO squeaking. I'll see how long it lasts ......
