Do you want a Keyless Entry Alert Tone?

I'll probably mount it outside the box at some point. Still, this is a huge improvement over, y'know, dead silence! It's audible if you listen for it, and certainly a lot better than a horn honk. Very classy kind of sound.
Thanks again. Love this forum, just awesome advice here for our great cars!

Installed a radio Shack 273-079 and very low and poor sound. Than we tried a 273-0071 chime but wiring looked strange but still poor sound. Maybe one of you can check the wiring on this it has a red + black- and a blue to a switch to black. The best was the 273-0060 which I think was the 273-060 and sounds the best but still a bit low. Mounted the 60 on top of the fuse box with Velcro. Very Cool! Ron

The circuit should easily power another relay coil, after that the only concern would be the contact limits as to load. Wiring is easy, there are enough access points to the fuse center to slip the two (relay coil) wires in/out to connect to the relay coil terminals (either like the one post where he opened up the relay and soldered directly to the terminals inside the relay and drilled holes in the top for the wires to protrude or some other way to connect to the pins with an assurance they will not loosten nor corrode). Care less what anyone else likes/doesn't like about horn sound, happen to like the audible of the horn for an acknowledgement for lock/unlock. My Camaro uses the horn to audible the lock/unlock, have had other vehicles with the same, tend to want to go with it for my XF.
Actually found another post that demonstrated the alarm siren upgrade, and didn't like that sound either. Will do what pleases me, like I said in an earlier post, those who like your quick inexpensive mod are happy with it. Am concerned if they do not have a reliable tight connection, the mod may not work later (at best) or might cause some corrosion (at worst) due to the dissimilar metals used and the constant heating/cooling/humidity present in the area. Not to mention, if they do not return the wiring to its factory state when they sell it, I hope they include the wiring upgrade in the owners manual when they pass the car on.
Don't know how many times I can say the mod your extolling is a good one for many. It isn't a good one for me. I did my own research, tested your "piezo" buzzers (and quite a few more) heard the factory upgraded repair siren, and choose the direction I am taking.

I've been using a 273-059 mounted outside the fuse panel since I ‘invented’ the mod over 2 years ago, and haven't had any failures or problems. Some have used the 273-060 that is a little louder, but neither one is loud. I understand that the siren replacement has become quite expensive, and in my opinion replacing it appears to be much harder to do than my mod.

Glad to see that some have found and are enjoying the info again. Every now and then someone finds it, installs it, comments and brings the thread back in view.
Installation is complete with the 060. Fantastic! The instructions were perfect!
I didn't tell my wife, RadaratNBC, so I'm interested to get her response!!

Did this mod today, and it look less than 15 minutes. I used the 273-075. Its a little too quiet for me so I'm going to experiment with some louder ones.
The easiest mod ever. Took about 5 minutes after convincing my mechanic son that I did in fact know what I was doing. Went with the 060 as well. I just got the car last week and was a little nervous about getting under the hood. Thanks to Corfire for great step by step and all of you for the follow ups.
Thanks Corfire... I just performed your mod yesterday at lunch and it worked flawlessly. I went with the 060 buzzer and mounted on the inner fender well adjacent to the box gave just the right volume! The tone of the buzzer is just unique enough to sound totally custom. Thanks again!
