i think i got it today. i had my car worked on recently and today i hit what i think is limp mode. basically the car got stuck at 1200rpm and bounced off that and didn't recieve any throtle imput until i restarted it. also bas/esp light came on.

 

it feels like your not a man anymore... oh wait your talking about the car

Yep its limp mode.

Had it happen to me when i blew the internals of my supercharger.
Bas/Esp light was always on and couldn't get out of 2nd gear.

Barely made it up some hills going to the dealership. It really sucks.

Is it always stuck like that? Not what you mean "bounced off that"

 

the car was stuck running at 1200rpm, but it sounded like it was hitting a rev limiter. basically bouncing. my car was just serviced and they replaced the maf and said it also burnt out the throtle body electronics when it went out, so they replaced it too. now i'm thinking the only link between the maf and throtle is the computer so that short could have effected alot of components in my car.

Will someone describe exactly what happens to the XF in limp mode?

I "think" I've had it happen to me 2x and associated it with my Sprint Booster needing reset.

Basically the car wouldn't go more but 10mph until I stopped, shut the car off and restarted.

It has also happened to the new owner of my XF.

Though I don't have a great deal of fondness for him, I would like to be able to give him the valuable info.

I'd point him here, but he doesn't have a computer, is computer illiterate and you would all hate me due to his lack of social skills.

Other than the car not wanting to accelerate, there is no indication of a problem, when it happens. No dash lights, beeps, nothing.. Nada.
