Default Transmission weepage - fixed or messed up?

My '05 coupe had the textbook "transmission weepage" outlined on the TSB. I had it repaired - but, when I got home and compared the TXB I see that instead of the Transmission Fluid Sprinter and Crossfire (#05127382AA) the dealer used Trnasmission Fluid 300/Magnum and Grand Cherokee (#05013457AA). I haven't had any luck finding the difference by searching online.

Anybody help me - I am very concerned. Love my XFire.

Selection of Lubricant
It is important that the proper lubricant is used in the
transmission to assure optimum transmission performance.
Use only ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12.
Synthetic Dexron III
Automatic Transmission Fluid may
be substituted. Refer to the Recommended Fluids, Lubricants
and Genuine Parts section for the correct fluid type.
It is important that the transmission fluid be maintained

at the prescribed level using the recommended fluid.

I just copied this from the 2005 Crossfire ownres manual, page 220.

Hope it helps!

It was the WRONG fluid. Give them Hell over this. Not sure how you will get all of the incorrect fluid out of it.

Jeezuz, is it so tough for the Techs. just to look before assuming any ole fluid can go in there.
I've had the same thing happen with oil changes. Wrong oil & no one bothers to put in the effort to make sure they're doing it right!
Sorry, had to **** & moan......

Question Re: Transmission weepage - fixed or messed up?

When I asked about the difference and showed the TSB printout with part #s, the tech. said that is a very good question. He went online, came back and said that the two different trans. fluids were in 2004. Starting in 2005, it was changed to only the one which they had used. I had also looked up the fluid online in a Chrysler catalog dated 2004. Does anybody know about this?

Sorry but they told you a bunch of crap ! It was and still is a different ATF and it is still available under that original part #. You may have to order the correct fluid and flush it yourself. That way you know it it will be done correctly.

I stand by my statement.

"NOTE: Be sure to use the correct transmission fluid, Mopar p/n 05127382AA.
21. Check the transmission fluid and adjust as necessary. Refer to the service information
available in TechCONNECT. Reference: Service Info, 21 -
Transmission/Transaxle/Automatic - NAG1/Fluid - Standard Procedure.
POLICY:
Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty."

Ok - I admit I am wrong.

It is not an updated part number - TSB specifically lists which part number to use.
Right from the TSB :
NOTE: Be sure to use the correct transmission fluid, Mopar p/n 05127382AA.

Take it back and have them drain and replace it.

Since that is cleared up, I assume everyone knows that the Crossfire uses power steering fluid ; Part No. 05127381AA only. Not used in anything else.

Okay, forum - I haven't gotten this resolved yet...dealership is maintaining that the fluid put into my car was okay for Crossfire. I don't know what to do -

Well the catalog referenced above was dated 2006 and still shows the 2 different fluids.

I would write up a nice letter - stating how you noticed the service dept put the wrong fluid in your car. That you requested the proper fluid be replaced and the request was declined. Any damage to you transmission that may be possibly caused by this error will be the responsability of the dealer. (copy to service manager and the owner/manager of the store)
Make sure tou include all the important info, Date of service, ticket number, date you notified, date of decline, (the more detailed the more they will know you are on top of things)

Now realistically there wont be an issue - when I had mine fixed the amount of fluid lost /replaced was quite small. Far less than a pint.

Good advice! I have kept pretty good notes with dates, who I spoke to, and so on! Thanks.
