Sticky Ignition Key Fix for all Crossfires 2004 thru 2006
Re: Sticky Ignition Key Fix for all Crossfires 2004 thru 2006
Position 1 is a quarter turn clockwise so that the logo on the fob is facing to the driver's right.
I had no problem moving the key in any direction.
Pay attention to the orientation of the key fob when the key and tumbler come out so you can
put them in the same position to go back in when you're putting it back together.
When you get the key turned to position 1 leave it there. Take the black retainer ring off with the
key in position 1. Do not allow the key to move.

Have you started taking the car apart?
OR
Are you trying to put it back together?
If your key is stuck, what position is it stuck in?

It is my understanding that 07s and 08s do not have this over-engineered problem causer.

That makes the fix more difficult.
I suggest you contact Travish. He's knowledgeable and also lives in the Greensboro area. Perhaps
he'll be willing to help you. Send him a private mail.
If you can't get that key to move out of position 0 you're going to have to do the sticky key mod the
hard way with a drill.

So is the spring entirely useless?

Are you asking if you need a new housing? No, just drill the pin out to remove the housing from the steering column then take the cover off to remove the spring and pin pictured below then put the cover back on then reinstall the housing into the steering column.
