TB screen?

Sorry, not TB screen. It has the screen and baffles removed from the elbow and MAF.

Has anyone that has done the 74mm upgrade experienced the motor wanting to hold the revs every once in a while?

Every once in a great while, when I am spiritedly driving my 6mt, after I put it into neutral from a relatively high RPM number, lets say 4K, it will begin to drop, but a lot more slowly than it should. This has only happened after I installed the 74mm TB and MAF. Very strange.

I have not had that problem ,that I know of. Haven't driven it alot since making the changes. You might try a "Throttle Reset". You may also want to inspect the throttle body to see if it is dirty. You may need to install an oil catch can if it is real dirty. Thinking about that change myself even though mine appears to stay clean.

I never noticed it at all.

Is this with the OEM MAF sensor or the one that came with the larger MAF housing? You may have mentioned this somewhere but I'm too lazy to look back for it. I think I know but please confirm.

I did a 'hard reset' with the negative battery terminal off for more than 30 minutes and have done my damn near daily resets with the key, no effect.

I cleaned the hell out of the TB before installing and there is no way that much grime could get in there that quickly when my 50K mile was relatively clean when it came out.

Thanks for the ideas though, always better to have multiple heads on the same issue...

I swapped for the OEM sensor as indicated here...

You may want to look at the TB gears and make sure nothing is fouled up there.

Thanks, I put the larger injectors, and it runs well, but rich. My tail pipes get black real fast when driving short distances.

It was smooth as silk when I installed, and the install was easy. It is not a huge deal, but when it does it, it just catches me off guard...

Check for vacuum leaks where the hose slips on , or at the TB gasket, or the elbow gasket. It would run rough if those were leaking though. Maybe the TB has a rough spot in the throat or the T-plate. Rub your finger over the edge of the plate and feel the path of the plate as the plate opens and closes. Be very careful when manually moving the T- plate, so you don't damage the gears in side.

I have checked all the connections already and when I say I cleaned it up, it is PERFECT with damn near a knife edge on it, absolutely nothing to catch. This is why I have been so confused, and it has only happened like 3x in more than 1,000 miles driving...

Thanks for the suggestions, as always.

Alot of people would really appreciate that. Can't wait to watch it, I'm planning on lowering and installing a cold air intake with the 74mm Throttle Body and new plugs all at once hopefully.

Hate to say it, but if you can lower this car and do plugs, the TB should be a walk in the park, 4 bolts.

If it comes with the MAF/IAT installed like the picture shows, that's quite a deal, except you will need to reuse the old 68mm MAF ....
( You can put the 5.0 liter MAF back on fleabay as NEW and get your money back )

Those parts are probably made in China which have been problems to some. Hope yours is OK.

Someone mentioned selling the sensor that's all.
