so i have a bit of an issue, i installed the 74mm throttle body, with larger maf housing , with the stock maf sensor. so first thing, it didnt have an o ring inside , simply some silicone gasket i think , it ran fine , so we used the same thing this time , the car doesnt idle properly now it feels like its sputtering and the whole car rocks side to side slightly , i did a throttle reset , didnt help , this was worse when i had taken off the mesh screen and plastic guide ,now i notice the issue stops when i cover part of the intake , so it seems like the car is getting too much air. will this be fixed by a eurocharged retune? the car an fine on the freeway , or basically anywhere above 1000 rpm

i tried to edit but failed , apparently there was an o rin and they gasket sealed it in , think this could be the issue? i used some butane and sprayed aroudn the throttle body and the revs jumped up a bit , could this be my issue you think? if so , what is the part number for the o ring i need to buy tomorrow ?

Throttle body O-ring Chrysler#05102933AA, Mercedes #305 997 03 45.
If you want to save money you can buy an O-ring from a industrial supplier, make sure it is silicone or flurocarbon (Viton) for higher temperatures - 400°F. Do not bother with the common O-rings.

thank you so much m i took a look at that self help you guys built for the replacement , and turns out the darned vaccume tube at the top wasnt attached , i sprayed some butane , revved up , took apart the lock that holds the maf housing in place , and sure enough it wasnt attached , i popped it back in place , made sure all was tight and the engine purrs again , and the power is back! its incredible how much power the car loses without that hose. and the car has an extra 10 ponies now, thank you! should i get the car retuned by eurocharged?

after further testing.. the car does feel better after the vacuum tube fisco , but it still feels a bit off , could it really just need a retune?

It will work but why increase one diameter and leave the small diameter in front of it.

I used a bigger MAF, took out the baffles and screens. Used the MAF sensor out of my old MAF and installed in the new3" MAF body. Kept the screen in the Air box that feeds air to the TB.

You could have a vac leak on the TB "O" Ring. I did, and had to replace it!

I've read through the thread, and have seen members mentioning they bought their throttle body from places like carguts.com and ebay. I've used the part number to search myself and found various results from ebay. I'm very new to this sort of thing and don't want to end up ordering the wrong parts. Is buying a used part from someone off ebay the best way to go? I would prefer to buy new but does it really matter? Is all I need the actual throttle body, or should I make sure other parts are included? I did take note of getting a new O-ring from Mercedes for the installation. I plan on finding and buying the part myself and having a shop do the work for me as I don't trust myself to do something like this.

Thanks for the direction!

i went on ebay , i got mine and it works just fine, as long as the part looks good, since its mainly a plastic tube, the electrics are all that really matter and the o ring

Plastic tube? What I find when I look it up is a metal looking piece, like a square with a circular piece in the middle that moves. Is that the wrong thing?

yeah... wrong thing, its should look dientical to the stock one just a slightly bigger diameter, i think youre looking at an aftermarket throttle body extender.

The MAF assembly is the two piece black plastic assembly, consisting of the elbow and MAF sensor tube. The aluminum part is the throttle body, it has a black plastic cover over the internals which is on the opposite side in the pic. The OEM tube and elbow are shown.

Thank you so much for the picture reference, so I need to make sure to get the entire thing including the MAF sensor tube, and not just the throttle body. Its gonna be a few months before I have the funds to get everything I want done, but I'm doing the research now and putting together a cost sheet. Thanks for the help guys!

I love how friendly and helpful the community of Crossfire is. Really helps new owners like myself
