I love how friendly and helpful the community of Crossfire is. Really helps new owners like myself
You can buy the throttle body and use it with the OEM MAF assembly and later just buy the MAF tube and fit the OEM MAF sensor. The elbow is OK as is.
You thanks are not needed ............... just send money. LOL

Good luck on that one 180.. still hasn't worked for me.. LOL.

I recently got a throttle body for my roadster off Ebay for 52 bucks.. and a facebook user mentioned he'd like to upgrade and there was another one sitting there for like 54 bucks. So if your not in a hurry you can save a few bucks. Make sure that plastic cover on the throttle body side is the same as shown here on the forum.

is the OEM MAF perfectly acceptable or is the upgraded MAF tube necessary as well?

Just to be clear.. OEM MAF "sensor" is a must use.. MAF housing is optional (the tube).. But you are adding a bigger opening throttle body which will then be sucking through a smaller diameter tube. Max performance gains say get the new larger "tube"..

The elbow guide fins can also be removed. I faintly recall someone had done test proving a flow increase with the fins removed. It's probably worth a few HP's at the top of the power band but no torque increase at all.

Also, descreening the MAF will improve throttle response

Needswings elbow come fin free.. Don't recall actual "testing" .. but anything in there is a restriction of some degree.

The chaps above were talking about the OE throttle body and MAF. I was talking about the OE elbow.

NeedsWings has a rubber hose which of course has no fins silly.

Hey thanks for the update.. since "I" have taken the fins out of mine "and" have the needwing elbow made of aluminum.

Wonder if I was pointing out "if needed they would be in the Needwings elbow"... I'll have to figure it out and get back with you later.

I edited my post since I quickly recalled needswings using a rubber hose on the srt6 only. The aluminium elbow has no fins of course

Default N/A 74mm Throttle Body Upgrade Guide

I've printed out the 9 page pdf and read through all of the posts, but I don't recall seeing a part number for the (I assume larger) plastic elbow or the larger MAF housing.

Could someone post the part numbers and whether they're MB or Bosch?

Guys I need some help out with this swap. I got everything swapped over and installed. I did the last step where you hold the gas pedal to floor for 5 seconds and all that. I started it up and the idle was very rough. I let it idle for probably 10-15 minutes. It calmed down quite a bit but still idles pretty rough. When stopped at a red light, the car surges a bit. It acts like the computer has not learned the new TB. What else can I do? Thanks in advance for your help

sounds like you have the old (new) maf sensor in. You have to use the stock sensor from the stock throttle body in the new MAF assembly.

I used the old maf sensor. The only thing different is the new throttle body. Everything else was reused.

Does that mean you re-used the O ring ?
If you did, then that is the first thing that needs to be replaced.

Can anyone confirm whether or not you need the elbow piece from the larger MAF assembly? Do you need the whole MAF assembly with elbow, or just use the stock elbow piece?
