Default replacement key

Hi!
I own a 2004 XF in Europe.... Over there a replacement key is 250 Euro ($320)

As I also live in Chicago I thought of getting the key here cheaper after reading this thread ... I went to the Chrysler dealer in Orland Park /IL and the want to charge $ 395 !!!!
I asked them if they would take to many drugs and left....

Can anybody tell me where to still get a better price...

I do not really need it urgently but i have only one key and it is always good to have a spare...

Thank you,
Werner

I just bought a 2005 Crossfire that came with one key. The dealer could not find the other set. I asked what it would cost to get an new fob.
His answer, "$635.
I'll take my chances with my single key.

You can get them from MSS, Merecedes Swap Shop for much less. They were under $300.00.

Trust me, you do not want to break or loose your only key.

OUR ANSWER: WHy the HELL are you talking to a DEALER?

Our other answer: This won't end well unless you:
Get ahold of Josh at the MSS and get a spare key ordered. If you loose the only key you have, the price goes way up AND it's a mess to rip the modules out of the car and send them in.
WIth a good key, he can clone it and you are good to go with little hassle.

I bought the car from the dealer's private collection. I thought that he might still have the extra fob.

If he sold you the car without giving you the two fobs CHrysler provided, (unless of course he did not have the second fob in the case of a used car), he's not an honest dealer.
Every car came with two. I'd not expect him to have it because he should not be in possession of a key to a car he sold.

The info that I could find was the dealer purchased the car in Missouri. I don't know if from an individual or at auction.
