Default Strange noise.

Started the car and drove about a block and the siren came on and off. Started to see a faint grayish smoke on the battery side. Couldn't find the source. A continuous clicking noise persisted for about 2 minutes on the driver side under the hood. More like under the wiper/ fire wall area. The car was fine when I parked it for approx 3 months. The only thing I did was put trickle charge on it and disconnected the battery

You will need to remove the wipers ( may need a puller ), then the the wiper cowl.
Located about in the center is the alarm module, unplug and remove.
You can either go on without an alarm or order a new replacement.
Search on here for "alarm" for the MB part number.

( clean out all the leaf debris while you are in there, check the drains are not clogged )

Is that an expensive part and is there anyway to chk before replacing. Would that have caused the grayish smoke?

They cost $120-$150

Hello fellow George, Just what is a lifetime warranty on an electronic device? I know the batteries don't last maybe more than 10-12 years, would they (FCP Euro) replace the siren after it craps out? I would buy one for sure if they did BUT....

I'm pretty sure they would, it's a marketing gimmick they use to beat the competition, any negative feedback on it would impact the image they want.

They have the odds on their side, who keeps a car or even the invoice for ten years so any new owner is out of luck.
