Default Ground point around the interior fuse

Hi guys, just bought a 2004 coupe and I’m trying to hardwire a dash cam. Just changed the headliner and thought it would be a good time to install the hardwire kit since the trims needed for that are off.

I managed to set everything in place and even find the necessary fuses, but I am struggling to find a ground. The bolt next to the fuse box is not usable for that and the three coppery looking bolts closer to the door are perfect but they are welded on so no luck there. Are there any other points around the driver’s side that I can use? I looked underneath the steering wheel and pedals but nothing so far.

Thanks

You should simply download the service manual - all these answers are in there. Here is a screenshot of the left kick panel showing the ground connection in that area.

Before wasting any more time, go here and get all the documentation on the car (that we have).
Get the owner's manual (closest to your car's year/trim level), the service manual (closest to your car's year/trim level) and the student reference manual.
READ THE STUDENT MANUAL sometime soon!

Many thanks, I searched the owners manual for grounds and nothing showed up but was not aware there were more of them. I will try this and hopefully it will work and all will be up and running in no time.

Why not make a new ground connection where you want it. Sand the finish off of a small spot or use a bonding brush on the metal, drill a small hole for the size of a self tapping sheet metal screw, attach the ground terminal, screw it down including a star washer , then brush on the appropriate paint

I could try that definitely, it’s the first time I’ve done something more invasive with a car so I’ve stayed away from anything too permanent without the knowledge for it.
