Question Cost of Brake pads?

Just took my perspective new 2004 graphite coupe to the mechanic to have it thoroughly inspected before I set my final price on buying from a personal seller. So the tires and brakes need to be changed out and aligned. Anyways, I googled and searched on here and can't find anything on how much the overall cost of having the front break pads changed out... My place I went to is wanting to charge $85 or so for the pads... then like $80 for the installation... LOL... for just the front pads?... is it SERIOUSLY that expensive? I called "just brakes" and the guy said BALL PARK $175... Anyone have thoughts or ideas on where to go/start?

If you don't change them yourself, that is about right. You will want to be picky about the type of pads and don't use the stock ones unless you like to clean your wheels everyday. If you specify better pads the price will most likely go up. If you don't want to change rotors anytime soon and want great braking and no dust, go with Ceramic pads such as Posi-Quiet. Rotex Gold are very popular on here as well. Just make sure you know what kind of pads they are going to put in there. Knock off about $1,000 for the tire replacement.

Thumbs up Re: Cost of Brake pads?

Thank you Norrie and LantanaTX! Yes, they seem to be - considering i'm coming from owning a 96 Honda Civic, I expect to be shell shocked on alot of things lol. I was kinda stumped b/c thats a little less than I was getting my whole car's breaks replaced now. And my Bro owns a 05 Mustang and he was tellin me I was gettin Ripped off, so I figured I go to the "experts" lol.

Norrie - LOL yeah I was reading alot of people on here were lovin those, so I too went to his store online to check them out.... for really good pads, they are at an amazing price! (i just need to double check my mechanic will use the part I bring in - I think he does - he just wont guarantee the part understandably!)

Nox1s - This purpose of this entire forum is to share knowledge and experience with the crossfire - I never stated a price - and was asking for some knowledge (which I will most likely be doing often seeing as I want to know everything I can) - so please respect that fact. Thank you.
