How many miles on them and how is the tread depth standing up??

 

In what way do they NOT compare? Traction? Cornering? ... Please elaborate.

 

I have really enjoyed my Hankook Evos, but have to admit as the rears wear down, they don't have quite as much stick as when they were new. I have about 25% to wear bars on the backs.

So far, they are 'softer' than the Yokohama Advan tires that I did have. They do run smooth and predictable. I have not yet driven in the wet, but based on the review, it looks like an excellent choice for a tire.

They are probably a softer compound which is why they will wear faster, but for the cost, I'm okay with that. Pictures to follow soon. (245/35R18 Front, 295/30R19 Rear)

I bought a set and have about 300 miles on them. I really like them. They feel like they roll so easily and make turning easier. I had Sumitomo HTR Z III before this. They were O.K. These I really like. Thanks for letting us know about these Hankooks.

I have no idea what they are like in the rain. I live in Texas....enough said.

 

Well, finally got around to really cleaning up the car after all the sporadic rain.

After a few hundred miles on 'em, for the price, hot sun and heavy rain, all I can is ... I like these tires!

 

Not a fan of my Hankook tires anymore. Only have them mounted in the rear but i just feel they can't hold the road for beans.

Upsizing them to 285 or 295 wide, i may of liked the way they fit the wheel better and might provide a little better traction,

 

We've just finished 1200kms on 2 track days at Mosport this summer and considering the hot summer that we had in Ontario this year these Hankooks held up very well. They are very good for high speed brake stability and they communicate at their limits very well in corners. Keep in mind that Mosport is the 3rd fastest road course in North America and the SRT6 is hitting top speeds over 220kph (140mph), so these tires are definitely being pushed very hard.
I've written this before but a European tire test compared Hankook to Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental & Dunlop tires and the Hankooks came a close overall second score to the Michelin PS2 tire. Now if I were racing that would be an important thing to consider but for every day use and occasional track day use the Hankooks do 95 to 90% of what the Michelin will do for near 1/2 the price and 10-15000km more tire tread life. I can live with that.

 

I think some of the tire dealers are taking advantage of the interest in Hankook tires. Discount Tires in Orlando, listed them for $616 out the door a month or so ago. I'm getting a set installed on Wednesday and the price is now $775 out the door. Same prices at all Discount stores in my area. Tire Rack sells them for about $616, but you then have to add about $55 for shipping and $35 to $40 each for installation at their recommend installers. Is this inflation or recession?.......

 

I put 245/40R18 on the fronts and 285/35R19 on the rears with OEM Limited wheels. They handle excellent at the Dragon, the ride is much smoother than the OEM Continentals, stayed glued to the road in tight curves at more than posted speeds, all in all I've very pleased. There is a lot of rubber on the wheels, not for everyone, less touring car look, but the rims are better protected. Turned out these are the OEM size for Corvettes.

 

I realized that mine now have about 15,000 miles on them. They performed well at the Dragon last weekend (and coming home last night from a dinner date, I realized my nine month old steering stabilizer has died of Dragon-related stress! )

I have TONS of tread left. These will not be the last Ventus V12s I buy.

 

I have had these tires on two different Crossfires, an '04 coupe w/six speed and my SRT-6 that I have had for about six weeks now. The tires performed flawlessly on the N/A coupe. However, with the SRT-6 I have noticed that the rears don't hold as well as I would have hoped for. For the SRT-6, they seem to work fine for normal day-to-day driving (no noise, etc.). However, with spirited driving they do seem to slip quite a bit. This comes from driving on the Dragon and Moonshiners Run where the traction control light seemed to come on quite a bit due to slippage (even had Danimal on my butt on Moonshiners and couldn't shake him). I have noticed the same thing here at home on hard curves. The tires probably had 80-85% trend on them when I bought the car. Going forward, I would probably not recommend these tires for an SRT-6 if you plan on doing spirited driving with lots of curves (which most '6 owners will do I would assume ).

BTW, they are stock sized as well.

 

They're even worse on a wet road driving normal. And forget about a stop light a smart car could beat you in a race.

 

I just ordered these tires this morning. Discount Tire has a Black Friday sale $50 off. Hankook has a $80 rebate charge card. $130 off I couldn't resist. 285/30/19 rear stock up front.

 

Anyone running 8.5 rims on the front with wider than stock tires? I was looking at 255/35-18 to keep the same height but give more of a footprint. Thoughts?

 

I have 8" wide rims in front and 9.5" wide in the rear. I have 245/35R18 in front and 295/30R19 in rear. I don't know if you can go wider in the front without issues. It's already pretty darn close up there.
