True true. Hey. My neighbor said that if they filled the tires to 32 psi then when I get up tomorrow and check it while the car is cold then they should be exactly 32. I thought they naturally lose a tiny bit of air but she says no. She's huge into cars and owns four or five different kinds. Whatcha think?

I think my TPMS stays lit like a Christmas tree at 32 PSI.. think I can only get to 36 and it stay off??

EDIT:

Found a thread that explains it.. dang these cars are SMART..

Sport Performance (Y speed rating) tires and All-Season
Performance (W speed rating) tires above 100 mph (161
km/h)
Front 225/40 ZR18
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 36 psi (248 kPa)

Rear 255/35 ZR19
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 36 psi (248 kPa)

Geez...always something else to learn! The sticker in the door jamb says front tires 32 psi and back tires 33 psi. So why am i putting them higher than what that says? Course even if I put them at 36 they still aren't going off. And how about that the back tires are bigger than the oem. . No biggie?

I had both front tires at 32 last night ... FL is 30.5....FR is 29.5
Back tires at 33 last night.......RL is 32.5 and RR is 33

Do I need to call since all but one is less than last night? It was parked in the garage all night.

I would wait on it.. overnight cool down will have an affect on the pressures.. just keep an eye on them for the next couple days.

That's what I'll do..thanks. I checked at Tire Rack and they were talking about the tires expanding and contracting based on temperature so makes sense.. Do you know if 0W-40 comes in Non Synthetic? Only reason I ask is that that's what I normally use, but this darn service agreement I purchased is making me change the oil and filter every 3mo/3,000 because it's not '95 or newer *think it's b/c of the factory warranty coverage". I. Don't feel like spending $90 every 3 months.

Haven't searched for any myself.. Are they aware of the Manufacturers required service intervals? Just kinda seems odd they would require twice of what Mercedes suggests..

I think she meant 2005 and newer. The 2004's used paper filters as the standard filter and as such was the filter to be used. They had less mileage specified for them.

I have two paper filters to be tossed out as I will not use them.

I would not use any oil that was not the specified oil, if they find out the warranty will be void.

Well I called the vsc adminitrator and spoke with a very nice man and had him explain it to me. Didn't make sense on the factory warranty since the drivetrain warranty is better on the 05 than the 06. It has to do with the plan that my credit union sold me, with specifically states that it has to be changed every 3 mo/3,000. Having administered vsc's for Toyota for 10 years, I asked him what their policy was if I expereienced a problem but could prove that I had used high grade filter and high grade synthetic oil. He felt pretty confident I would be okay unless the call for a claim happens to come into someone with an attitude.

Actually I called and specifically asked if I had to use synthetic if I was changing it every 3 months and was told I did not have to to keep the vsc in force. But...love this little car so will probably just give it synthetic anyway. I didn't go back to look and see what I said in reference to the years, but know I meant anything newer than the '05...but I was wrong as I responded to MrMiata a minute ago...the change intervals are based on the specific contract the credit union sold me. He did tell me that this is the second best vsc they sell so at least that was good news and I don't have a deductible which always helps! AND..I need to check with Chrysler to see if the 7/70 drivetrain applies to me or only the first owner. I would hope the factory warranty would transfer with the car and not the owner but I'm not sure how Chrysler works.

Stay with the Synthetic, you will thank us later.

If you are the second owner, you can get it transferred in the first 30 days of ownership, I think the fee is $150 or thereabouts. If you are farther out than the second owner - no dice.

You're right and I am sticking with it. I found mobile 1 synthentic at Walmart for less than $6/quart while the auto parts store wanted almost $9/quart so that's pretty good.

A great price indeed, many of us here watch the auto parts stores and post up info about sales, I do not think I have paid over $5 for a quart of mobile1 in several years, and they usually throw in a filter you can get them to upgrade to fleece for a few dollars, a real win

A few months ago I got 5 sets of 5 qt jug and filter for 32 dollars each set at Advance Auto (they run these specials now and then). That works out to about 6 bucks a quart with only 2 bucks a filter. I would have gotten more but there was a 5 set limit on the deal. I have enough for 3 complete oil changes with 2 filters left over. The filters are the Mobil1 oil filters for the XF.

Thanks for the tip on the filter. They didn't have the 5 qt which I wanted since I'm sure it's a better deal the 1 qt bottles. 😊
