Default Brake and Clutch System

Could anyone confirm how the clutch/braking system is integraded in these cars. (if at all)
My clutch and brake pedals both feel a bit off. Pressing the brakes firmly or holding with hard pressure causes the pedal to bottom out.
Also the clutch pedal engagement does not seem consistant sometimes it grabs down low but usually its a lot higher.

Is the clutch system hydraulic, if so is it on the same resevoir?

Does this sound like a brake master issue, or perhaps the clutch issue is unrelated?

2006 xf base, 6speed manual

Thanks in advance.

The resevoir is the same for both. Bleeding the slave cylinder is a PITA so whatever you do, try that last.

A tip I was taught on the R6 forum is to fully depress the pedal (or lever in a bikes case) overnight. It compresses the fluid together towards the bottom and forces the air the only way it can go, up the line rather than down. It worked on my dad's F250 for the clutch rather than bleeding it. So I would take a big rock or shovel handle or something and somehow depress the pedals. Worth a shot in my opinion.

If the pedal goes down and there is no leak you need a master cylinder.

So the clutch and brake system use the same reservoir. Does that mean when I fill up the brake fluid, the clutch fluid is filled as well? Just trying to get a better understanding of that system.

Yes, that's how it works.
