just remember 8 pots require custom mounts . the e55 rears may look the same as the other 4 pots but they are offset different, and require custom mounts as well

Without a tire that can transfer the stopping force to the road all you have is an expensive and impressive appearance item. Unless your doing repeated high speed stops, in which case these are a much larger, better heat sink. They do look fantastic. Observations from a track junkie.

LOL I know these are extreme overkill for a Crossfire, just sharing the love and letting the newbies dream

Beast! And I thought the 4 piston ones were big when I got them in hand. Def overkill but drool worthy. I just wish I could find some good priced 4 pots for the rears, nevermind something this crazy!

I would never question the observations of a much more experienced driver like Les but I can tell you that the 8 pot brembo's stop quickly and quietly and efficeintly and with no drama. I know our playing on mountain roads does not push the cars to the limit like Les does his car on the track. The brembo's have allowed me to extend my comfort level much deeper in to the braking zone before a turn especially going down hill. At the recent Dragon we had held back so we could get a 6 or 7 turn sprint to catch up to our group held up by slow traffic. As we caught the group I used that new deep braking zone and hit the brembo's hard and stopped quietly quickly and with no drama. The SRT behind me however was now in a high drama situation and ( thanks to driver skill and anti lock brakes) came sliding past me on my drivers side avoiding the collision. I am a believer in the 8 pots.

Would I recomend buying these to a friend? Only if you understand you will need some one with the skill to fit these brakes to the SRT so they work properly and safely, that you will also probably be buying new wheels and you realize you are paying for one of a kind mod on a Crossfire. It has been said these are overkill, I like overkill especially in braking. Depending on what you want to accomplish I am sure the 4 pot Stop tech's or the 6 pot brembo's that Anthony did will be great preformers.

Based on my experience the $1700 for the front system is a very good price.

Uh oh, sounds like I'm a party pooper and that wasn't my intention at all. I just want the people that go the direction of huge brakes to know why they're spending the money. For looks, worth every penny. Wow factor, worth every penny. Clamping force ie stopping power, in spades. Just be aware that the brakes may feel better, need less pedal pressure .... and may be better, but the stopping distance is more dependent on what tire and how wide. I'm a Stoptech owner and fanboy. I never realized their potential until I put stickier tires on. Maybe the 8 pots front and 4 pots in the back with street pads really make a difference. I know that the more aggressive pads that will make the stock brakes much better are not everyday friendly. Just take my words as from the perspective of my personal experience in my part of the world. I don't live where conditions change (no cold weather) and haven't tried my Stoptechs with anything but track pads. Nothing is sexier on a Crossfire than a BBK be it Stoptech, Brembo, AMG 4, 6 or 8 pots, Rotora AP Racing, Willwood etc. Go for it.

Not at all Les and your point is well taken. I am pretty sure my brembo's did not come off of an E55 but I wanted people to know that buying the rotors, calipers and pads was just the start of the spending if any one chooses to go the 8 pot route. i am very happy with my set up. the 8 pots are very cool and get comments almost daily. If I had it to do again I would probably follow Anthony.

Les speaks the truth, if you want to have a great time at a track or even the dragon try a stickier tire, Everything is better especially braking, especially with somthing like carbotech pads and a slick

Great, now my head's all swollen. I do agree with you though, since the SLK and CLK calipers are a direct bolt-on.

For me, the brakes were all about aesthetics. IMHO, they stop faster than before, but maybe it's the placebo effect working it's magic.

Regardless, they are huge, orange, and draw lots of attention. What's not to love besides the price?
