Default Wheel spacers with stock rims question

Hi everyone, first post here. I’m interested in putting wheel spacers on my 05 crossfire convertible with the stock rims.
Ive been thinking 40-50mm spacers, but my mechanic told me it would likely make the tires wear a little quicker because the car would “sag” a bit with the wider base and possibly put a weird angle on the tires.

My question is: has anyone done something like this, and did you notice any negative effects in terms of tire wear or anything else?

first of all no one makes lug bolts long enough for a 40 to 50 mm spacer ,, you would have to get this type of lug wheel spacers
no the car would not sag,,, but it is so unsafe that if you went too fast around a conner your spacer bolts might brake you see with out Hubcentric spacers your wheel is held on centered by the bolts,, so don't do it,,,.jim

Thanks for the quick reply @amx1397 ,
would I have that same problem with the bolts breaking if I used a smaller spacer, like 15-20 mm?

I answered the spacer question with my thinking of racing, i i do with my car a 15 to 20mm spacer will work ok as long as the lug bolt sticks through the rim and spacer 5/8" you will be safe for street use.

I see no reason why such spacers could not be hub centric, even though they are too large without fender flaring mods and dangerous in my opinion.
