Default 05 crossfire BAS/ESP light on

I have a 2005 crossfire (37500 miles)where the BAS/ESP light is coming on intermittently and the brake pedal has excessive travel when applied. Like the brakes start to work when the pedal is close to the floor. I have had it at a shop that replaced the brake fluid and replaced the 2 front brake hoses. Still having the same issue. Need to find a shop that is not just going to replace parts, but know how to diagnose the problem. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated.

An intermittent problem is always much harder to correct than one which lights the warning light and it remains on. The shop you took the car to did the correct thing in replacing fluid and brake lines. That makes sense. Thing is with an intermittent problem my first step after changing fluid would be to scan the car for diagnostic codes. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. Hopefully that will produce a "stored" code that can get you headed in the right direction. Be aware that the Crossfire has by it's very nature a soft peddle for the brakes. It has been discussed many times here on the forum with no concise conclusion.

The reset for that light is to start the car, turn the steering wheel all of the way to the right, then all of the way to the left, then back to center and turn the car off. That should reset the light. Even though it is intermittent it wouldn't hurt to try. A good import shop that works on Mercedes is your best bet for repairs.

thank you for your feedback. The concerning thing about the brake pedal is that it travels almost to the floor before it grabs. I have a feeling it is some kind of sensor, but need a shop familiar with the crossfire that can diagnose the issue. Having a hard time finding that shop in the Portland, Oregon metro area.

I wonder why they didn't replace the back brake hoses? I would guess that they are the same age as the fronts. Overtime the hoses deteriorate internally and expand with pressure. Maybe that is the cause of your low pedal.
As far as a Mercedes repair shop, try the link below. Put in your state and town.
