For some reason my dome light won't come on when the driver side door is open. It will turn on just fine when the passenger side door is open. Any ideas of what I can do?

 

The first thing to look for problems with would be the drivers side door switch. It sounds like a simple wiring issue somewhere leading from the switch.

 

Any suggestions as to how to go about this?

Thanks guys, I searched all over the forums to find something on this issue but I couldn't find it! I'll give it a shot.

 

"use the search engine" is a fairly common response. But unless you've been here a while and kinda gotten used to searching and which thread could have the potential answer.. that could turn into a week long adventure!

There is another user CoolX I believe that has the same current issue but I haven't seen anything from him as resolved.

 

You were right, the switch wires go right by the seat belt. Somehow they got tangled up in the seat belt and got ripped from the switch. Simple fix! Thanks!

 

He's got a cracked windshield now.. busted key fob.. dome light probably not high on his list..

 

Ummm, did I mention the scratches when somebody keyed both doors? Good news though, getting the windshield replaced Tuesday (windshield costs $231, is that too high?) and the ebay store is going to let me return the key fob that I can't seem to reprogram. And as far as the dome light is concerned, I don't know where the components that contain the pins are located, and the fix sounds a little above my pay scale...so I put it on the back burner.
