Dang! This scares me. I have got to do this mod. I’ve read of it happening over and over. Sorry to hear you got stuck Ed.
yes I kept putting it off ! Never a problem before & just under 30K , then wham stuck in parking lot & getting it towed ! I was thinking of doing it myself this fall when I put it away for winter , after checking two shops who wouldn’t do it ! I even had the sticky key fix 4 pages printed out & you tube video , which is really good in detail . So yes don’t put it off , do it now , you never know when it’s going to lockup !
I didn't change the #4 O-Ring on the oil filter assembly and I never have in all the years I have had a Crossfire
I read tonight that the extra O-Ring that comes with our oil filters isn't an extra O-Ring
It goes in place #4 on our oil filter assembly....did anyone else here know that ?

I've never changed that O-ring either. Didn't know there was even an O-ring up there. Never took the assembly apart. I just replaced the other O-rings, slid a new fleece filter onto the shaft, made sure it was seated properly and re-installed the filter assembly. Always torqued the cap to proper setting. Would be curious to know what risk we're taking by not changing the #4 O-ring. Does the shaft just pull out of the cap?

From what I've read on the MB forums, no one ever changes that o-ring. It has never been reported to leak, and those that did change it report that the stem does not like being taken apart and put back together. It easily wears down the connection, causing it to break down and become unusable. Consensus is to best just leave it alone.

Also another cool trick with the One of the O-Rings is (can’t remember which one) it is the PERFECT size for the O-Ring on the oil dipstick.
Which is a failure problem in some cars (like mine) where the crank case builds up a lot of pressure and will shoot the dipstick out along with a few quarts of oil. OUCH
bought a new oil filter set 5$ and replaced the O-Ring

How would you know it was leaking? I do not expect an answer by the way.

Today I had the opportunity to have my good friend bluecoupe install my recently recovered roof liner, he then went on to install the five panels that line the trunk. The car is now only in need of a coat of paint on the modified console.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your final console mods.
Washed the outside & vacuumed the inside , even cleaned the leather seats & steering wheel ! Tires & rims all cleaned up too ! Now just need some sunshine ! 😎
I finally got a round tuit today and did the sticky key fix on the SRT6. I had done this on the LTD almost 10 years ago and had done a few other forum members cars since but had saved the 6 for a rainy day. Just my luck it was raining today!
Cancelled the cars insurance, changed the oil and filter. I successfully changed the FSS after reading how to do it, at first I had tried to do it as I had remembered, wrong.
Installed some new headlight bulbs today. The passenger side burnt out so I replaced them both.
Edited to rate these here: I had OEM bulbs before and contrary to some of the reviews I have read I can truly see the difference in light output from these !!!
Much brighter and Whiter than OEM Halogen H7 Bulbs
It is said the life expectancy of these bulbs is shorter but if that is true I'll simply buy them more often and replace them as needed
I'm very satisfied with these bulbs
Did you have stock bulbs before? Do you like the output from these?

Took the time today with a clear sky to measure the tire air pressures on the Coupe (along with my other cars). Everything was about 3-4 pounds low with cooler air temps occurring. Got out the air compressor and adjusted the tire pressure to 36 psig in all 4 XFire tires. Made similar adjustments on the other 4 vehicles, raising tire pressures to proper specs.
