Default First thing to do

After seeing all the problems with start no start, idle issues, etc. here is a suggestion for everybody. Go to Harbor Freight and buy an OBDII reader, get as good as you can afford, they range from $59 to $199, then buy the battery and alternator tester. They won't be the answer for absolutely every problem but for the most part, they will give you some direction to resolving your problem. Without some information, we often make a simple thing more complicated than it needs to be. Then come to the forum and ask the smart guys what they think. LOL

You can also buy a cheap bluetooth OBDII reader on eBay (13 bucks shipped) and pay the 5 bucks for the Torque app on android. I keep mine plugged in all the time, works like a charm.

I like torque.
It gives factory and aftermarket codes

From what I understand this thread points to three popular issues....Dead battery, mystery no start (sticky) and Crank Position Censor replacement (also a sticky).
All known problems...

A reader will help, as well as a voltage meter....but a star dos system isn't cheap enough to buy for most people....lol

The Crossfire is so reliable, who needs diagnostic devices? Only problems were the I/C pump (well known), a popped plenum plug (OBDII showed med the codes and scared the crap out of me - thought I blew the s/c), and a haywire transmission cable (do not need a code reader when you cannot go into 1st or 2nd). Yes, I did buy the OBDII for problem #2 and as the owner of three Audis it has come in very useful.
