Default Could it be the "mystery no start" issue?

This happened to me twice already. I leave my crossfire in the garage for two weeks without starting it. I go to start it and the engine turns but will not start. I have the car hooked up to a battery tender so the battery is ok, The engine is powerful when turning. Once the car finally decides to start, I will drive the car for 20 minutes with zero problem. I can turn the car off and it will start back up. Is this a relay control module issue or something else? A weak battery in the fob? Or dirty fuel filter (I never changed it). It seems to start after I hit the gas pedal a few times but maybe that has nothing to do with it. I have owned the car 14 years now and fixed all the known issues but I never had the mystery no start issue.

If you have left the car over a week, it is possible ( and likely ) that the fuel pressure has bled off.
Try turning the key on and wait 5 seconds, then off.
Immediately go back to on, and wait 5 more seconds, then engage start,
This will get the line pressure back up to 58 PSI for the injectors.
BTW, pumping the pedal on a drive by wire system does absolutely NO good.

That is what I did. I turn the key on and light up the dash without starting the car. Waited a few seconds then turn it off. Then turn the kay back on. Eventually it would start. I have owned this car 14 years. The first 4 years I drove it every day. The past 10 years it has been in the garage and driven just once a month for a nice long run. Always started immediately. I never had this problem before. It just seems strange that it is happening now. Could the fuel filter be dirty?

Yes, could be fuel filter or fuel pump.

I would suspect the check valve in the filter, when you turn on the engine with the key just before the bstart position do you hear the fuel pump runningbfor long?
You could check the fuel pressure in the fuel rail after you have left the car for ten minutes or put a pressure gage on it and watch it for a sudden drop in pressure when the car is turned off.

I let the car sit all night and started it this morning. it started right up. It seems this happens when the car sits for a long period of time. Rather than test it, do you think it is probably best to just replace the pump and filter? They aren't expensive parts and given the age of the car it may be a good thing to do anyway.

Couldn't hurt, hang on to the old parts though just in case.

The dealer wants 700+ for the fuel pump and 400+ for the fuel filter. WHAT THE _______!

Wants is the key word, they are fishing for fools, don't take the bait.

Why the hell are you talking to a dealer? You have been here for nine years, you know better than to go to a dealer for anything.

I have been here for more than 9 years. Been lingering around for years before i set up my profile. And I have owned the car for 14. I know about stealerships. It is just a good place to start.
