TPMS Light is OFF
I've been looking at the TPMS light on the dash for nearly two years. It's an '05 so after 15 years one or more batteries failed.
Problem with replacing the sensor(s) was the age of the tires. They were original to the car and in excellent condition. The car
has only 9300 miles on it. Well, I finally decided to replace the tires and attack the TPMS problem at the same time.
Discount Tire had the tires I wanted and they were adamant that they could resolve the TPMS. I was skeptical to say the least.
This forum had me convinced that this was a big problem. Discount Tire said they would install 4 VDO 7004A 433 MHz sensors
and relearn the car. They installed the tires and the sensors only to show me the Bartech scanner screen that said it COULD NOT
relearn the car and that Chrysler proprietary software was required. (Hell, I knew that. Refer to my earlier statement about skeptical.)
I would have to take the car to a Chrysler dealer they said to get the car to see the sensors. I had earlier asked a local Chrysler dealer
for a quote on replacing all 4 sensors and relearning the car. The quote - $526.00. I honestly do not know what they would have charged
just to relearn the car with the Discount Tire sensors in it.

loaded with the Crossfire software and an upscale Autel scanner that could relearn the car. He had used it on his own car after
getting the same story from Discount Tire. I met him at his house this morning, the day after Discount Tire installed the sensors.
In 15 minutes he had connected his laptop to the car, communicated with the car, scanned each tire/sensor and THE LIGHT WENT OFF!
I cannot begin to express my gratitude to dedwards0323. He is a gentleman and a scholar in my book.

I just had the same experience at Tire Discounters of Louisville. The tech insisted their Rite brand TPMS units would work with the Crossfire. I said they wouldn't, and guess what - they couldn't program them.
I told them I wanted them removed and my old ones re-installed, figuring he'd offer a discount of some sort for the problem. Instead he agreed to pay the cost of having Chrysler program the sensors. I do want working TPMS, so I guess I'll waste another hour or two of my time getting that done.
I really wish I could justify buying my own ODBIII.

I find it interesting that CDJR dealers are abandoning the DRB3 tooling & scanners. It not only eliminates the dealers from diagnosing & working on a Crossfire, it impacts them servicing any model series of that era that used the same technology. PT Cruiser is an example. Guess it is FCA's way of telling us our cars are no longer of interest to them. Doubt I would participate in any FCA sponsored event because of this!
One reason this "re-learn" process was easy to do was the VDO TPMS sensors are "pre-programmed". I doubt I would use any other type of wheel sensor. Simply just a matter of triggering the wheel sensor so the DRB3 Emulator software can see the wheel sensor & load the identifying info into the TPMS module.
My thanks to John&Terry for helping me get setup to do the TPMS Re-Learn process.

I ran into the same problem with Discount Tire about 4-5 years ago. Rather than taking it to Chrysler, I cut a 3/4" x 3/4" piece of black electrical tape and placed it over the TPMS icon. Problem solved. PS-I do stop by DT every month or two and have the tire pressures checked. They have never lost air other than over the winter during storage.

If a car came with the TPMS equipment it must work at the test time.
NICE! I live near a dealer that charged me 1/4 hour to do mine when I replaced them. Coincidently that's just how long it took yours to be synced.
