making the crossie more comfortable
to me is the most beautiful car i ever saw. and then i learned that she can cook. technically is a wonder too. but, as anything, there are things that could make it more enjoyable, and 1 of them is if it could be less sensitive to the bumps of the road. yes, is a sports car, and it is a characteristic of all of them, but many of us, perhaps due to our age, would like to make it more comfy.
1 thing to consider is the kind of wheels, that dont use the sides as shock absorbers, as most modern wheels do, and are the main reason for this discomfort.
and i wonder if there are other wheels in the market that could replace them? that match the bolts layout, and are of smaller outside diameter? like 16", and then find tires that have about the same outside diameter as the original?
i know that this will affect the handling; that will not be so stable, especially in tight curves at high speed, but for some like me, that live in places where we cant drive wild, this would be of great help.
links are welcome, and so, other ideas. this is our project.
and please, if you have any objection about this project, if you think it is crazy, please dont post.

seems that somebody has been digging into the area of wheels for the xf, but with different goal, and it just shows how different our car is from any other regarding wheels.
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...e-options.html
especially for the goal i have in mind. changing to a smaller wheel diameter to fit tires with same outside diameter.
here is where the help from as many as possible can be the solution.
hence why i call this our project.
https://wheelssize.com/wheels/chrysler/crossfire/#2005
so, even if using most of the parts of the SLK , as mentioned here: ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merced...LK-Class_(R170) ) , and explaining it near the end ( "The platform of the R170 Mercedes SLK is also used by the Chrysler Crossfire, which shares 80% of its components with the car ".) sadly, that 80% does not include the wheels.

What about changing the shocks? I'm not familiar with how various different shocks would change the comfort level but surely someone on this forum has done that. Seems like a shock change would make for a more comfortable ride and not cost near as much as new wheels and new tires. If anyone has a recommendation for the right shocks for a comfortable ride, let us know. If there was a chart that shows the various shocks and their effect on the ride comfort, it would be nice. Let us know.

but of course. you were there deep into it and found it to be the answer: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-ride-srt.html

I went with the Konis set on full soft.
I got them from NeedsWings in the fall of 2012 at Woodward.

so seems this way costs at least half and is way easier. am doing it. thanks Jim Holian for your suggestion. seems the most practical solution.

as this has evolved specifically into shocks, i started a thread here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ng-shocks.html
please follow it there.
see you.

another thing that gets on your way is that boulder under the dash. i think it was made to make the edge less hurting, but they made the mistake of making it hard. even if not as hard as the edge, still is damaging. it hurt me from the 1st time i got into it, and i removed it and replaced with a SOFT padding. now i dont get hurt every time i get in or out.
see it in this picture:
(this is not my car)

it is 1 of those things that are called "drafting board engineering", that seems good but the guys dont try in real life to see if the idea really works.
posted a pic before but disappeared. i hope this 1 remains.
