07 Tahoe.. "chirp" = horn..

 

I came back from US yesterday and we had as our rental car a brandnew Chevy Tahoe.

I liked this kind of chirp :-)

So I would know how it is with the new siren from Mopar

I have seen the chirping siren part number to be also installed in quite a few other chrysler vehicles. One of the cross referenced parts came up with a few other chryslers. If you find the reference, post it, someone might be able to get one at a salvage yard (ooops, a pre-owned graveyard) and use that!

 

Alarm going off on its own! Interior light flickers / unlocking randomly if driving!!
Still trying to find cricket on crack. My siren has been weak for years no on my 04. I kind of liked not having the noise, but it seems to have progressed leaving me stranded at work yesterday. Yesterday the fob wouldn't open the car. Opened with the key and the alarm lights started. It didn't stop with the fob or inserting the key. When it stopped I started the car but it quickly died. Then it would not turn the starter at all. Saw in another post to remove fuse #9 to disable the domelight, horn and alarm. The light went off, but the horn and the alarm both still worked. Replaced the fob batteries, no help. Had no tools at work so I called a tow truck. He tried to jump it to no avail. At home I found a post and decided t follow the suggestion to take the 10mm to the negative and disconnected and reconnected the battery. I could not start now since the battery was low. Put on the charger for a few minutes and it started .Drove 38 mi to work where it restarted fine. Did not lock the car. 10 hours later it started and drove home fine. I am going to try replacing the siren next. So glad all of you are there to help figure out these issues. The local dealer quoted $8-900 to replace the SKREEM but it seems the siren is the problem from what I have read here in the forum. allmoparparts.com/oemparts/5124443AB has it for $144 plus shipping. I'll call around town tomorow and see if someone can get it sooner of without shipping costs. We'll see. Price is triple what is was in 2008!

Anyone got a source for the replacement siren/alarm 5124443AA / 5124443AB that is less than $130 or so? My alarm siren crackles and cuts out so I'm assuming the internal rechargeable batteries are failing... as someone else mentioned, it almost makes more sense to try and splice in an aftermarket alarm siren at this price.

 

I got one out of a MB CL500 off eBay for $23 including shipping.
It works. ( also much louder than the OEM one )

 

The AA is the non beeping module when locking/unlocking the car, the AB beeps.
The difference in price is basically two times for the beeping one. The AA is now obsolete, a few may be around though. If you dig one up on eBay you may get one that is a few days from failing.
I am going to put new batteries in my old non beeper before they leak as explained by ala-xfire and maybe sell it.
Do not buy the part using the Chrysler part numbers, use the Mercedes part number as it will be cheaper by far.

 

Are you positive on that? The first post in this thread says, in bold:

Per the thread below, Mercedes part # 1718202526 will chirp whereas 2038203826 will not. The one that doesn't chirp is attached with a bolt and the one that does uses a nut.

I'm curious about what a dealer would order/install if you took in your SL-class or Crossfire to have this part replaced, since there's such limited availability of the part numbers we have.


I'm willing to bet that we can find something aftermarket, or at least used more recently, with the same or a similar/adaptable connector. In the mean time, found MB #1718202526 on EBay and won with best offer of $35.

 

There is a lot of wrong info in this thread, wrong numbers and wrong statements. Even your statement stating 171 820 25 26 will beep is wrong, that post goes on to say that it is obsolete and is replaced by the part number that I quote.
Do not ask for a Chrysler part number or you will pay too much for the same siren.
I used MB part number A 219 820 32 26, it worked. It needed to have a nut (8mm I think) added instead of using the stud that the Crossfire siren used. It beeped so I was happy.

 

You're right about the supercedence... good luck finding 3226 anywhere. Two on EBay right now. There are multiple threads confirming that the 2526 will chirp.

If the 25 26 is obsolete and the 32 26 is current then there should be plenty of the latest part around. A simple search confirms there are thousands of the latest part for sale.

 

Well, I'll report back when the 32 26 I just got for $30 is delivered.

 

Do an advanced search using 219 820 32 26 and onehundred80 and you will find my post with the picture of the siren, the need for the M8 nut and the fact that it beeps. There is a lot of BS on these threads and a lot of it is outdated or simply wrong. There may be other sirens that beep and I am sure that there are, but the number I give is correct and BEEPS.

 

I got a 25 26 for $30. After hearing the beep video, it is exactly like the RadioShack buzzer... So if one doesn't actually beep, I'll replace the batteries in it and put a loud piezo buzzer in. Same outcome.

 

Installed the 219 820 32 26 - it DOES beep.

Good morning all. I have read the threads and need some further help on my 04.




the chirp alarm for lock/unlock has not worked since I bought the car a year ago. The lights did blink but no sounds.


Yesterday I was washing my car and the angry bird alarm started going off. I tried to silence with key fob and even took batteries out of the spare. Chirp got louder and louder. I pulled the battery cable and it stopped. Started right back up when I reconnected. I pulled fuse # 9 to kill it.
Do you think I got something wet while washing. I think I was around the gas door.


I have read about the Central locking pump module and the chirp alarm. I don't want to just start throwing parts at it.


I appreciate your help.

These cars did not come with a chirping alarm, a newer alarm module is required for that feature, about $150.
What is causing your alarm problem? I do not know, sorry.

It does seem to get louder, I doubt it does though, but start worrying when your ears bleed.
