Question going for some thump

I'm pretty sure this weekend, I will be purchasing 1 12w6, 1JL HD750/1 amp, and a simple ported box for now. Is the money worth it? Is it going to make me grin for a long time? I have the tvt system as an alternative purchase, but going into winter, I thought the extra weight might help some. Any suggestions? thanks, chris

They are both around the same total cost.

What's more important, the sensation you get from pushing on the right pedal, or bass? Only you can answer the question.

I went with a single 8W7 sealed. I powered the system with JL's class D 4 channel amp.300 watts rms to the 8 and 150 per channel to the stock components in the doors. It actually has a very realistic bass sound. Deep extension without sounding fatigued or overstressed. My enclosure is a simple MDF baffle which I fiberglassed over the tire kit area. It left all of my cars interior space. I just had to move the compressor/tire goo somewhere else. The choice of JL's class D amps is a good one. You won't find more efficient amplifiers. I'll try to load some pics later.

Sounds like a good setup. I look forward to your pictures. Did you use the right or the left side compartment?

I used the driver's side compartment. The grill I made sticks up a bit to allow for the 8W7's long excursion.

I'm curious, was your jack/fix-a-flat over there, or on the passenger side? My "stuff" was on the drivers side, which is really inconvenient consdiering my enclosure covers it, and I don't have anything on the right side. (NAZAR should have created a passenger side box.) My trunk light is covered by the box, too, btw.

This is exactly where I was wanting to put a sub, but on the passenger side where It wouldn't hinder the use of the tire-changing tools. How did you end up getting the styrofoam piece out?

The styrofoam chunk wont come out until you remove the carpeted panels on the sides. They overlap the foam enough to stop removal. Unfortunately the passenger side compartment contains the air system for actuating the door and hatch locking mechanism. Mercedes cars use a vacuum to actuate the locks. If you notice, your locks operate slowly compared to mechanical actuators. There is enough room on the pass side to put the jack etc. but not in the foam.

The security system is also back there (see posts about moisture screwing up the alarm)
