Default IPHONE with INFINITY / NAV STOCK RADIO

Hi everyone!

I am in need of connecting my iPhone to my stock radio (infintiy with nav)

Any ideas? FM transmitters are not the solution. See below link... Will any of them work?

eBay Store ? AudioPartsAdapters: Search results for chrysler iphone.

P.s. anyone know the model number of the stock infinity radio with NAV ?

There is a forum member, I will not give his name, that is working on this problem. He is a very talented man and I wouldn't be too surprised if he comes up with a very nice solution.

Wait for it...

Actually, I THINK an FM tx IS the answer. BECAUSE: The only input I can find is a mono input for a phone adapter. You have your choice of the phone audio coming out of the left OR right speakers - and that appears to be about it.

Sure would be nice if one did. I found a page yesterday that shows MOST of the pinouts of the stock radio/nav. Only a mono phone input is shown.

P.s. anyone know the model number of the stock infinity radio with NAV ?
I'v been hunting for that for at least two months and can't seem to dig it up.

I want to add an input, that is, to use the mono phone input to play a weather radio over the car speakers AND add the ability of making an FRS radio's speaker audio also play thru them the same way. (At my age, I have problems understainding peoplet thru those tiny FRS radio speakers.) It appears I MIGHT get this interface done this weekend, given what I found last night online. If so, I will post my results - but they won't help YOU as this will me a mono-input and will use the "Telephone" function of the radio/nav.

What YOU are attempting has been tried and discussed before, over and over, and it is my impression that you simply can't do it apart from using the old "FM transmitter" idea. Just my two cents - but research these pages yourself - don't trust me!!!!!!! I have a habit of missing stuff all the time.

Why couldn't you open the wires from the head to the amp and drive the amp directly? Would the levels be enough out of the device to drive the amp? If so, then a 4 pole, double throw switch and some wire/connectors should do it.

Or.... if the levels are not enough - maybe add a preamp between the device and the switch?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... something to work on AFTER I get my FRS/Weather Radio interface done (or I fail in the attempt!)

The problem with doing it with a DPDT relay is you're running audio through a circuit that uses an electromagnet as the switching device and thus introducing "noise" to the amplifier which sends all that "noise" through to the speakers.

That's why I said switch and not relay!

(Not that it's really the right way to do it - but I can't see how to do it otherwise - sure doesn't look to ME like there is ANY stereo input at all.)

HEY, I have heard of a CD changer being available from the factory. How does THAT interface? Is it a whole different head? Must be - where would it go?

(Just wondering if some of the pins on the TOP connector would be for that...?)

On the factory nav radio, the CD changer interfaces with the headunit through the connectors you are speaking of. Problem is the inputs are only live if the CD changer is active. Between the throttle body controller, trans controller and iPod adapter, my winter is full of projects to do. Anyone got anything else they want to throw on the plate?

I haven't had a raise in five years - can you speak to the boss for me?

============================================

And thanks for the CD info - I assume (there is that "a$$" word again) that the CD player pulls a pin low or somethign to tell the head to activate those inputs.
Can't we use THAT input to "take over" the head and make it "listen" to whatever we want it to?

Also: Are those inputs (from the CD player) analog audio or digital? (Obviously if digital, then they are useless).

Now you have me thinking this can be done!

ONE LAST THING: I have found the pinouts of the bottom two connnectors but NOTHING on the top one. I'll pursue this IF I can find a pinout
of the top connector. *Hint - Hint*

The CD changer doesn't pull a pin to ground or anything that easy or we'd all have iPod adapters already. While the actual inputs are analog, it's a serial connection sending over commands to the headunit that make everything happen and it needs to see this for the inputs to be live. There are only two ways to make this work, Figure out how to get another similar radios software on there that lets you use the aux in or actually figure out what the commands are that the CD changer sends to the and make an interface that talks between the iPod and the radio.

Damn, you sure know these cars. Considering the lousy info in the manuals - have you ever considered writing a book?

Seriously.

EDIT: It would make a good supplement to the manuals. Think about it. Think about that check every month or two!

Me write a book? While I thank you for the compliment, there is much about this car that I do not yet know either.

Yea, well, I read where our "V-8 Conversion" guy was gonna talk to YOU about problems with his car.

Given what he had accomplished without you, it made an impression on me that he was gonna talk to you. I am subscribed to that thread - never post in it cause I KNOW I have nothing to add. (See everyone? I don't post in EVERY thread! )

Well I have tested my old belkin fm transmitter and it works a charm. It is so small it can be positioned in the coin tray under the radio. all solved. Is it easy to extend a cable from coin tray under all the panels and have an exit point at the mugholder?

Not sure about getting the cable out of the coin tray wihtout it being visible.... but when I replaced my cup holder with a storage bin I found that running wires would be easy from, say the shift to anywhere under the center console.

Once you know how to do it, pulling the center console is easy.

Well, the FM transmitter is so tiny that it fits the coin tray. Therefore I just want a normal headphone 3.5mm cable from the transmitter, tray closed, and the cable to go underneath all panels and then pop out of the cup holder. Possible or just way to difficult?

BTW, is the lamp supposed to be working in the coin tray?

Sounds pretty easy to me. There is a thread here SOMEWHERE that tells how to pull the trim around the shift and the center console.

I didn't know there WAS a light in the coin tray.... going to look right now.

EDIT: Well, I'll be - there IS a little light in the back of the coin try that comes on with the instrument panel lights.

Just bought the car, so I am thoroughly going through everything ;D Mine is not working though..
If you find the post regarding moving the panels and so forth I would very much appreciate it. I could not find it...

Try this thread: Start at post 8, then keep reading ....l

Then read this thread: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...e-bin-how.html

It is a good idea to download the service manuals ... timelord posted them here this summer: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html
