Homelink on the Crossfire..?
Hi
I am soon to get my garage door made automatic. I want a homelink system so I can use my system in my crossfire to open the door.
Does anyone have any technical info on this from the crossfire, mines a 2006 model so what version homelink should I be looking for etc?
please help
Id be interested to hear from anyone else using this and what brand door opener you have.
Thanks

I've got mine opening doors at two locations... both openers are a few years old, but as far as I know, "Homelink" is "Homelink" - I don't THINK there is a version 1, version 2, etc.
My Roadster's transmitter opens any door I try to program into it! ALSO, my OLD door opener was a Sears generic "non-homelink" unit installed in the mid 1990's - the Crossfire opener took that code easier than a Homelink code!

Try doing a search on ( programming garage door opener ) there are several threads in this area about programming your home link system, you may have to learn the remote first then program the car to your garage door reciever unit, ( like adding an extra remote )
Hope this helps.

If you follow the instructions in the manual you should have no problem. Some openers like ours here in Canada operate on a"'rolling code" and you would follow a different Homelink programming procedure than those in the U.S. but this procedure is covered in the Owners manual.
You just need to find out if your door opener receives a "rolling code" and proceed from there.
Good luck.

That's funny I have never had any success with programing any other car or truck I have owened and thought what the hell give it a go! well it took 5 min and now this is the only car I have ever been able to get to work! I just went through the manual and it worked like they said, even after disconecting the battery over the winter it remembered the code. the weird thing is the ignition has to be turned on to activate the door.

I think that is a good feature, some cars do not have this and there is a lack of security because of it.

I found a wallet in my recycle bin, cash gone, credit cards, driving license etc intact. I gave it back to the owner, a teacher down the street, he had left it in an unlocked car.
He never even said thank you, he just took it back. Such gratitude for saving him a lot of hassle.

But not me I choose to do what I can, it's all in your upbringing!
You can tell if a child is being raised properly, the say hello sir, or Mr. so and so!
If I didn't my dad gave me a cuff on the back of the head. Just the way it was in our house.
Keep serving the good deed and maybe good will come of it.
Have a great weekend.

A couple of days after we got home from the trip, I got a call from a guy in Maine. It seems his son and daughter were swimming at the same beach and found my wallet. He tracked me down and got my phone number. I was really grateful that I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of canceling all the credit cards and stand in line at the DMV. I told the guy to mail me the wallet but use some of the cash to pay for postage and give the rest (about $150) to his kids as a reward for their honesty. That would have been a bargain for me. He wouldn't accept it. I told him to at least give the kids $20 apiece. Nope! When I got the wallet back, it was intact, cash and all. He only used a couple of bucks to pay the postage. I really wish he had given the kids a reward to this day.

A teacher would be too cheap to have any money in his wallet...especially if he leaves it in his car. So he probably lost nothing after you gave him his wallet back.

There are additional instructions, not covered in the manual, on the Homelink web site for programming specific openers that don't behave the way they should. I had to get the directions for my Genie opener from their web site and it worked like a charm....nothing in the manual came close to programming it. It's worth the time to look it up if you can't get it to work from the directions given in the manual. It really is convenient and works from a much greater distance than the remote opener (or at least mine does).
I have tried to program several cars that had " Home Link" and could never get them programmed. I tried to program the Crossfire several times over several months. One day I decided to try again and it just worked great. Don't know what I did that was different, but it worked. Must have been operator error, no doubt.

If you do the same with the middle button it will give you a region version as well, mine flashes 3 times indicating UK.
Anyone elses different. I am due to have fitted a Sommer Apperto 800 garage door motor, will this model work do you think?
Thanks
michelle.
