Where is the ideal location for an iPod input?
Installing a product from Alpine on my stock radio that is basically a direct FM modulator. It has a cord that plus into the dock of the iPod and charges. Since this is not full iPod integration, I will still need access to the iPod to control the song, etc. Where would be the most logical place to direct they wire?
When I saw a stereo with the remote usb plug in the middle of the consol in front of the cup holder.. couldn't help feel the right hand side of the hand brake button wouldn't have been a better choice to keep it concealed somewhat and out of the way. Just my thoughts on it..
Depending on how long the cord is... I ran mine from the headunit under the center console and into the center console storage. There's a piece of plastic that is already pretty much punched out and you can just slit the carpet a little and run the wire..
Honestly I would just get a new headunit though, those FM (even directly connected) modulators are still no good.

You are right, but I got this unit for cheap. Normally $100.00, got it for $30.00. Will be a much better solution than the Griffin Roadtrip I am currently using. Plus, I am tired of having my iPod out displayed for all to see--get in the way as well. The console is looking like my best option. I can always have the iPod resting in the slot where the handbrake is.
I would really like to create a receptacle in the console rather than just having a lose iPod cord directly from the unit. I wonder if I could use an iPod female to USB cord and then install a USB slot in the console?
