Default Running Subwoofer Power Wire SRT

So Ive searched and searched for the youtube video a user on here posted with directions on how to run the power wire off my battery to the hatch. His car was a base model so i assumed it was similar. Anyways....... In his video he shows that after you run the wire through the nipple on the firewall, it falls through to the passenger footwell, which I did.

He then describes and shows that after you lift of the side skid plate, there is a channel with wires running down it. I pulled mine off and was surprised to see this

I dont seem to have the channel as he had. Is the SRT different or am I missing something? I peeled back the carpet a bit as well with no success. Again Ive looked and looked and havent been able to come up with an answer so Im asking for the help of the forum. Pictures will follow my solution. Thanks,

Dave

Dont recall a channel on my NA.. but I did lay the amp wire in the corner of the carpet you show.. and ran back to the bulkhead where you'll find more wires and the security vacuum lines..that run over the bulkhead and to the rear fender area. Also tagged that lug there in the fender well for my ground. (speaker wires are layed in same manor as amp power feed).

I will be doing this in the near future but wanted to keep the factory amp location and use a low profile amp for the doors. Can you guys post up some pics of the amp location and isntall if you have time? Thanks!

Nothing like a good coat of Plasti-Dip to protect!

that's a great idea I never thought of using it for that. I did however use it recently on the outside of my angel eye retro fit headlamps to clean it up a little bit and to act as a water barrier,I also used it to make eyelids up to the crease in the headlamp plastic. I'll post pics as soon as I get the car back together.

I just wired my limited roadster for an amp in the back. I chose to run the wiring under the center console instead of under the carpet. Its much easier to route the wiring and the RCA cable and remote turn on wire can be quite a bit shorter. There is also the benefit of never having foot pressure on the cables which can cause breakage.
As far as routing through the bulkhead, just follow the rest of the wiring. Plenty of space in there for more cabling. I have a sirius cable, a fat Monster RCA cable, 8ga power wire and remote turn on wire running through the opening and there is plenty of room for more.

I was trying to make a video to clear up questions from dipshits like myself in the future. Made dumb mistake. No harm done, this time.

Ok. One small item seems to be missing:

where did everyone actually tap the (+)12 VDC from? Directly to the battery (whick it looks like in the video) or did you find another weird fuse for the unused (at least in my limited roadster) terminal in the power distribution box (Fan 50A, Fuse box 200A, Traction/Hydraulics 50A, unused) in front of the battery? That is where I would go...

And where can I source those weird fuses?

lol i actually did something similar by mistake a while back, and almost did it when i took out the srt's battery. I used a ratchet to loosen the nut on the + terminal and hit the - terminal with the handle of the ratchet. I was shocked at what happened

i assume the roadster is a bit different, but i chose to run everything EXCEPT the power wire for the amp under the center counsel as you mentioned, but now that im at the wall behind the seats with the leather map pocket and umbrella hooks, I havent figured out how im going to get them in the hatch so right now they are just draped over the wall (very unattractive). Anyone have a suggestion on how to get it into the hatch near the center counsel armrest? perhaps under the carpet??

I chose not to do the power wire this way as i dont want to worry about any interference issues and have to pull apart the counsel AGAIN.

To place I ran the wiring through is under the bulkhead carpeting. It is basically right beside the passenger side sub. To get to it just remove your door sill by pulling it straight up hard. There is a little feltish looking trim piece that runs from right under the edge of the sill upward. Not sure how far to goes in a coupe, but you can peel it up from the bottom up to about where the top of the door would be if the door were closed. Then you can just lift the carpeting from the bottom corner of the back wall. You dont need to lift it terribly high, just about a foot. You will see the door lock wiring and tubes running up and through the bulkhead there. Just follow that stuff. Easy peasy. This was the passenger side I routed along, drivers side may be different. There is a small clip on the lower corner of the carpeting nearest the console, just pop it off so you can route the wires under the carpet then pop it back on.

Max, I had the battery out to run the cable through the grommet anyway so I just removed the nut that held the main battery cable on in that little fuse panel and placed my amp power cable lug under it and tightened it back down.

I just backed the nut off the postitive clamp, added a lug to the amp power wire, slid it onto the bolt and put the nut back..Plastic wire loom over the wire so it all looks semi-professional anyway..

Inline fuse at the battery end along with a plug in fuse at the amp.
