This forum has always been open to asking for VIN checks, but it has been less than successful as of late due to the fact that CarFax has recently changed their pricing model. In the past, you could purchase unlimited checks for a 30 day period for a fixed price. Now, they only offer a single check for 34.99, or 5 checks for 44.99. With this new pricing model, there are fewer people that would have a disposable check to pass your way. But, it does not hurt to ask. Just understand that it is not because no one is wanting to help you out if you do not receive a response to your request.

I have been doing some researcha again tonight and came to the same conclusion about price and SRT's. I will have to let go of my stick wish but the SRT is certainly attractive. On with the search.
I'm now up to date with the VIN info.
Thanksagain
I can understand your reluctance to give up the stick, but I think you will quickly learn to love the capabilities of the AutoStick shifter on the SRT. Lets face it..... when do you really want to shift a car? When you are in the twisties..... Right? Having just been to the Tale of the Dragon, I can tell you that I was extremely satisfied using the AutoStick shifter to get the most out of the 300+ turns. I can be accellerating through third, and slap the stick to the left as I am approaching the apex to shift into second, then WOT through second back into 3rd. There were a couple of times I had to downshift into 1st as I was closing in on traffic in front of me, but most of the time I was going between 2nd and 3rd gears. If you talk to SRT owners that truly push their cars, I think you will find that the majority of them have become enamored with the AutoStick. There are die hard manual lovers that will argue my point, and for them only a true manual will do, and that is fine. But, if you utilize the AutoStick to its full potential, I think you will come to appreciate its merits.

I will be trying out a few Crossfires in the next week and will form an opinion after that.
Another point was made earlier that the new auto transmissions are so fuel efficient that buying a standard shift now is counter productive. It may be that the only use of a stick shift now is to relive the days when that was all there was. Fortunately I don't need to go back to radios with tubes there is a device called an Ipod, I maybe slowly changing my mind about a stick shift.
I have found another roadster in Mesa Az. which is closer to me. Is there anyone familiar with this car or a club member that would be willing to go over and have a look at it? I have talked to the owner and he is open to a visit from a club member. It has a few of the features that I feel are important, convertible, alabaster, price, although I am open to any input about price, too high or just right.
I 'm looking forward to enjoying the features of this great marque and besides I really must start building my signature, adding tasteful mods and taking photos for the gallery.

That seems to be a good price for the miles on it. It has been lowered, so you may want to ask how it was lowered i.e. Eibach Pro, H&R, cut SRT springs. You may also want to check out this thread: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...oing-rate.html

It may just be the angle of the picture, but it does seem to be lowered to me. Now that I look at it again, I am not totally sure if it has been lowered or not. On a non lowered car, there would be a 1.5 to 2 inch gap between the top of the tires and the fender well. If they used a quality spring kit like the ones I mentioned previously, that is great as it would cost you between 200 to 300 dollars to lower the suspension doing the work yourself. Just make sure that they did not cheap out and cut the stock limited springs as they are a progressive weight spring and should not be cut. Many people will buy stock SRT springs and cut them which is fine as the SRT springs are not progressive.

In this picture you can clearly see what a roadster looks like that has not been lowered. Look at the gap in the rear fender well.

I see that now. I will talk to the owner tomorrow and see what he says. I think that there were only two owners and both are over 60, that is not to say that an older person can't add a lowering kit but it is unlikely.
Thanks for the lesson.

Well, I called the owner of the car I was considering, 2nd call, and he had a buyer there for his car. An '05 Alabaster roadster with 65k miles, senior driven for 11k-11.5k. He was asking 11k for it and I was willing to pay it but was not able to get to it quick enough. He had it for sale for a while and kept dropping the price until it became hard to resist, I only came upon it last week so I don't know his original price.
The search continues.

Sometimes in life it is the quick and the dead and you just need to pull the trigger. Hang in there and be ready to pull the trigger. Good luck. You will find another good one at the price you are comfortable with.
just had a second SRT sold out from under me, both w/in the hour before I showed up...
been focusing on the coupe, but that pic of beautiful black roadster has me thinking twice about that bad assness
been watching for SRT's for the last few yrs

Well I am still looking and wow what a selection of cars. There are plenty of '04 and '05 cars for sale and plenty of them at small independent car lots. I even found a place in Texas called Bonham that had 10 Crossfires for sale.
One thing that I am unsure of is the model year designation, were there not models manufactured in each of the 5 years, '04 to '08? Some of the car listing sites exclude the '07 model year.
