Unlock all / or just the driver door
I knew this existed and it always bugged me that I had to hit the unlock button twice everyday after work to put my laptop in the trunk. I searched and searched but no luck so now that I found it, i'm posting for others to find easy.
From the service manual:
The keyless entry system has a Global or Selective mode function for central locking that can be programmed by the customer. The factory setting is Global, which will lock and unlock both doors, rear liftgate and fuel door centrally when the respective button is pressed once. The Selective mode will only change which power locks unlock. To activate the Selective mode, press both the Unlock and Lock buttons simultaneously for approximately five seconds until the battery check lamp in the transmitter flashes twice. The Unlock button will then only unlock the driver door and the fuel door when it is pressed once. Pressing the Unlock button a second time, unlocks the passenger’s door and the rear liftgate. The factory setting can be restored by pressing both the Unlock and Lock buttons simultaneously again for approximately five seconds until the battery check lamp in the transmitter flashes twice.
Mine was in the selective mode when i received it so i'm not sure what the actual default is. Anyway i'm global now! I love this board!

I thought I was going to wear out the button, having to press twice as often to get into the trunk or unlock the door for my wife. Thanks for the info, I'm now global and it has reduced one more irritant in my life.

Resurrecting an old thread here, but I discovered something new. The selective/global mode is a function of the remote and not the car itself. Meaning you can have one key set for selective and one set for global. Pretty cool if you ask me!
I actually think there is... I just can't remember where or when this was discussed, but I THINK I remember a car being set for that - and the owner wanting it set back to how your (and my) car is set up - cause he found it inconvenient.
.
I only heard of setting the FOB to open only the drivers door upon one click but never heard of the ability to 'unlock' only the drivers door from the inside using the button on the console. IF it isn't possible to program the console button, you can use the FOB 'drivers door open only' programming function before exiting the car after shutting it off, as an option, ok? Just remember if you have more than one person in the car OR something to get out of the hatch, you MIGHT have to resort to hitting that FOB unlock button twice (again, I believe).
.
.
Disconnecting the battery cancels all custom settings.
My key fob is set to: One press unlocks the driver's door, a second press unlocks the passenger door and trunk/boot lid. One press locks all three doors. When inside the car, the lock/unlock switch on the console locks/unlocks all three doors simultaneously. With all three doors locked, just pulling on the driver's door release handle unlocks all three doors. If you want to unlock just the driver's door while sat in the car, you will need to use the unlock button on the key fob.
