Default Long Crank during start

Anyone have a similar issue starting their crossfire. I have an 2005 Roadster and sometimes it will have to crank for 10 seconds or so before the vehicle will start. Any help would be great

I had this very problem with my 3.5 L Altima SE
It was taking quite a few cranks then shed fire right up.
I thought perhaps she wasnt gertting fuel
Turned out to be a fairly minor Variable timing sensor.
They explained that it had to crank and crank until it discovered top dead center by chance, and then it would fire
Now that its fixed, the car has lots of snort, and I dont hear the custom exhaust drone as much.

Have the dealer run the error codes. It will save you time and money chasing the problem.

Hope that helps

Are you sure you cranked the engine for 10 second? 10 seconds is way too long. Longest I've cranked is 2 seconds, which sometimes feels like 10 seconds.

In any case, assuming that your spark plugs are working, then try putting your key in the accessory position for a few seconds to get the fuel pump circulating fuel and bring the fuel rail up to pressure before starting the car.

Next thing to do is attach a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and perform cold-start and hot start fuel pressure checks.

Assuming that your spark plugs are sparking (if the car runs fine, there's no problem), then it's 85% probability a fuel-related issue.

Is the car an SRT or a regular naturally aspirated model?

My car does this - and it's an SRT.

However, it wont crank for ten seconds. It seems like after about 7-8 seconds, it stops cranking (like it just gives up). You have to remove the key, re-insert, and try again.

For the record - have you noticed that you don't hold the key in the 'crank' position? You just 'bump' it to crank and the car will crank. Let go of the key and it does its thing.
