The other day it was wet out and I spun the tires through 1st and 2nd gear to abour 40 mph, it wiggled around a little but this thing is a joke to control. I love my car, but its not a collector car, and its not a sports car.

My Jaguar XJ-6 was a sedan with sports car heritage[/F
In spite of their dubious claims to sports-car-dom, I've had every last one of them (except the Jeep) going 60mph sideways through a corner in a 4-wheel drift, some of them airborne over whoop-de-do's, and in the case of the E-Type, in spite of it's fondness for the toolbox, wagging it's tail at just about every American Muscle car that ever took the bait. With the Jeep I just pop wheelies.
There were lots of other forgettable cars in my driving past (since 1973), the Crossfire is definitely loads better than most all of them. Even the Jaguar E-Type you say? Yes. The Jag had the mystique and the visual impact, but as most people know, it lived up to its reputation for being notoriously unreliable. It stopped people dead in their tracks every time they saw it, but it never gave me half the pleasure the Crossfire has given me. And I am pretty sure the Crossfire could out-run it.
Forget labels, if you like the car, that's what matters.
What I want to know is where can I get a hat like this? Now that's a sports car hat!

And one handsome handsome man...
LMAO good one

Ok, well for one, I'm glad people say "Coopay" and "Porsha". "Porsha" is undeniably the way it is said. That's not even a question. German word, German car, German pronunciation.
Coupe, eh, it's probably more debatable, but it is a French word, and therefore we have to get as close as we can with "coopay."
I won't get into the whole Crossfire being a sports car issue. I feel like that should probably have been for a different thread. That's just my opinion.
But I will say that I'm suprised how many people use the Crossfire as a daily driver. I expected that most people would have a daily car and then their Crossfire.
It's cool that I'm not alone, though.

You're right, on all counts.
I'm sure we have given the lad enough of a tongue lashing and Doc is right, youngsters are just that way. And we are as likely to find consensus on the definition of a "Sports" car as we are to finding a solution in the Middle East. I'm fine with mine as pictured in my avatar.
If anyone wants to argue, let's start a new thread.
Now that we have beaten the subject to death, can we please get this thread back on track. For those old guys who can't remember, it is
"How do you use your Crossfire?
roadster with a stick
As for the tranny, I'm surprised you asked. I'm a stick guy from the get go. And everything on that car was "manual." Two cylinder, low compression N/A* power with very, Very, VERY stiff suspension. It did have anti lock brakes and very little under steer. Handled like it was on rails!
And OH YES, to the personal question. I was supposed to be a girl. Franc is short for Francis which was supposed to be Frances. Now you and the whole world knows my little secret. Remember the Johny Cash song, "a boy named Sue" That was my childhood.
Anybody got a problem with that? They can take it up with my MOMMY.

* For those who don't know there is a current thread on this term. Very revealing.

Let's Do it!
I use mine as often as I can, I don't care if it belongs in a Museum somewhere!
already. SF
I would guess that how often you drive the Crossfire is directly related to how many "other" cars there are in your collection, and the weather conditions where you live.
I'm not going out on a limb here by saying that the Crossfire is the car of choice for most people here on the forum (that's a given). But for those of us living in the "Rust Belt", driving our Crossfire is more of a seasonal pleasure, unless we simply don't have anything else to drive.
When the weather is nice, I drive my Crossfire as much as I can, because I feel the most "at home" behind its steering wheel, so I went with #3, but I could have voted #2 also.
Personally, I've never been on a trip that was too long in my Crossfire.

I see 9 second cars and faster on a daily basis during the summer, thats pretty fast , but hey Im ignorant and have no common sense apparently. So yeah, Let me re-evaluate myself and Ill come back when I realize my little car that gets out cornered and outgunned by full size cars is a sports car. give it up, I stated my opinion and thats all it is, my opinion, which I guess is wrong. I'd love to just end this here having already stated my opinon but someone else will probably call me ignorant, or a dumb 21 year old.. This has been by far the most worthless argument Ive experienced on this site since the girly car one, you guys need to lighten up a little. Let me rephrase what I mean here, when I think crossfire, I dont think sports car. A sports car to me is something like a lotus exige, or anything race prepped (yeah like a miata). I think bare bones, strictly business. Ok so its classified as a sports car, but classifications dont mean much.

EDIT:
See, I've been dragged down to their level. Ok, back to the thread...

Guy, I've been around fast cars my whole life, much longer than you. I built my first hot rod/drag car at the age of 15. I still have that car, but now it's configured for street duty. However you consider fast is up to you, but a 12, not 13, second stock car is fast. Now, go have fun driving around in your regular, old, standard Crossfire.

back to what this thread was intented to discuss, I drive my "sports car" daily.
[edit] ok Im just trying to get the best of you, I obviously know how to annoy you so Ill just stop here. Your car isnt slow, yes for a stock car, especially with a 6 cyl. its fast, its very respectable. Im not saying my car is faster, but im also not saying im jealous of your car. I bought my car because it is the most cost effective fun car that I can really afford right now. If I had the money for an srt at the time I was looking for crossfires, I probably would have bought a mustang gt, as I only considered a crossfire when I found out how cheap they were. Im glad I got the crossfire, and i dont regret not getting an srt. your car is better than mine (although I like my 6 speed, and funky interior and exterior colors), fair enough. can we call a truce here, because ive had enough of e-flame offs on this forum.

I hadn't actually done the calculations, but you are probably right, about 2 foot lbs of torque off the line.
It faded as you approached the higher RPMS, or if I ran full throttle for more than 30 seconds.
thanks for the input.

Yeah I'd call low 12's pretty fast, low 13's is damn quick but not quite fast. Fast cars are the ones that have the capacity to scare whoevers in the passenger seat at any given moment, can do wheelies and can spin the tires for 1/4 of a mile. Quick cars pull nicely at highway speeds. If I'm not mistaken someone on here informed me that the quickest run for a stock srt6 was 13.1. I've heard of them running 12.8's too. Go ahead and keep ragging on me for saying your car isnt fast, Ill be driving my regular old (07) standard (yeah its a 6 speed) crossfire until I get out of school (and pull the trigger?!) and get something nicer. I guess by then my mustang will be faster than your street chevelle too, but your the expert here. can we end this now? probably not, my guess is you will think of some other name to censor to try and hurt my feelings
but Im not upset, I wont hold a grudge here. Im wasnt trying to make this personal, or take shots at anyone, but people questioned my character and intelligene rather than my opinon.

As for my Chevelle, there comes a time in one's life (don't worry, you'll grow older too) when the ultimate enjoyment of automobiles isn't just faster is better. I swapped the 4:11 gears that helped get that 4300lb car into the low 11s for nice, comfortable cruising 3:08s. I enjoy the better gas milage, lower freeway RPMs, and easier shifts now. So, the SRT is now the fastest car I own. It still remains the fastest STOCK car I've ever owned if I mis-spoke earlier. If I ever feel the need for speed, motor cycles can accomodate me as I've been riding those since the age of 5. I don't care how much money or time you put into a car, nothing can compete with the accleration and speed modern motorcycles can achieve for a fraction of the cost. My 2002 R6 ran 11s all day with nothing but an exhaust and a carb jet kit, my 2005 GSXR 1000 ran 10s without trying (and scaring yourself to death). Heck, even my Buell XB12s with a big old HD lump ran 11.40s.
