Default more gtech fun

The bracket for my g-tech broke, so I havent used it too much. I got a new bracket yesterday, so Ive been messing around with it. So far I've pulled 1.13 g's on an entrance ramp, .97 on another turn and got a 0-60 run of 6.5. Has anyone else seen numbers like these? If I hold the thing parallel to the ground, it reads 1.00 g, so it must be calibrated correctly.

Does the G-tech use accelerometers to calculate speed or does it take any data from the DRB bus, such as vehicle speed? I bought a Nitrod performance meter and have seen similar #'s for g forces and 0-60 times. It does take vehicle speed from the car, but uses accelerometers to calculate HP, g force and such.
I chose it for the code reader, and MAF, O2 sensor reads and such.
I haven't done a 1/4 mile run yet, but maybe on Sunday AM when all the roads are empty?

The only data it takes is from the cigarette lighter to operate the built in tach and shift lights. Its pretty much strictly accelerometers. It doesnt display speed in real time, only g-force and the tach/shiftlights. It calculates speed/1/4 mile/0-60 etc based on g-force over time, along with the weight and suspension stiffness. Its actually dead on with the speedometer, last run I did I went to 100 then let off, the 1/4 mile graph went up to 100.

Cool.

Mine takes the vehicle speed data from the BCM and goes with that. Problem is: bigger tires! 1.4% faster than read.

I have a headache...

how many time a second does the the DRB bus spit out information fro the MAF and O2's? is there a lot of lag time or is it instantaneous feed of information?

Can't have too many chunks missing in the information packets being sent from the DRB to the Nitrod if your trying to set up a piggy back ecu, any info would be apreciated.

Maxwell,

I don't know the polling frequency of the Mercedes ECU, but I just spoke to Nitrod (Canada-no 4th of July day off!) and was told the polling frequency of this unit is 10 Hz.

Hope that helps.

What kind of bracket are you using to hold your GTech? I have the damn suction cup one, and it refuses to stay on the glass no matter how clean, or how i tighten the thing. GRR. Otherwise I would use it more. And I hate to drill holes in the dash or something to mount it hard style. Any good thoughts? I have put mine at 1G before it went flying off the windshield . lol So not sure what numbers I can produce. lol

I have the same one, the trick is to put just the suction cup peice on first then assemble it from there, otherwise it just falls off. pain in the *** but it works.
