Death of an xfire, rant, advice?
Ok so without going into too much detail about the accident (still hasn't been handled). I was in an accident that was 100% not my fault, and my xfire was totaled.
The car: 06 limited coupe, automatic, 40k miles, two toned light/dark interior, TVT265 and brand new nexen 3000s not to mention roughly another $1k in deadening material (this car had over 150sq feet of butyl rubber deadening mat, pounds of COTTON sound absorption and ensolite) The stock sound system was removed but i hadn't finish my install yet either (needed to mount my 701 combo and amp and it was done).
The insurance company? PROGRESSIVE which is my company but because the other guy hit me on purpose his insurance probably isn't going to cover him(my car...) at all so it's back to uninsured/underinsured on my own policy.
The offer for my car? $14,400
I've talked to just about everyone about this and everyone says the value is crap, but my insurance company will not even entertain another offer, i'm using autotrader/cars.com/vehix.com and i have values and i've explained this, but honestly they are completely unwilling to move on their offer, do i have any rights here? I mean if i could get my car for that price that would be fine but what coupes i am finding are either in the 18-21 range or they're older than my car (and i'd like to at least be able to replace my car with my car).
I really expected to get more for this car, am i kidding myself?

I just did a quick search on autotrader.com and found around 18 of them, '06 and newer, for less than $16k, many of them with less mileage than your car. It was in a 500 mile radius of my house.
Do a similar search for your zipcode, you might be surprised. I think you could replace the car for near what they are offering you.
Sorry for your trouble...

From my limited perspective, i think that you are doing pretty o.k. cuz I paid 18k for my 07 roadster with 14k miles. So for an 06 coupe the price sounds almost retail. Keep pushing it doesn’t hurt but if you bought this baby new I feel your pain and it is just unfortunate that the values keep dropping so low not to mention this lovely economy!!
Hope it all works out for you.
Nate
I've done the search, i'm actually located in blacksburg, va. (these are a few days old so there may be a couple new ones)
cars.com (150m radius, 06 or newer limited)- $18,900, $17,599
vehix.com(same as above but 200mile radius) - $20,837
autotrader.com(same as above, 200mile radius) - 18,998; 14,900
The only other requirement was a dealer car, because every person i've talked to (including the lawyer and the other agent) said they should be using dealer pricing, not private party.

Thanks for the replies, i know they won't cover my accessories but it is something I have to keep in mind about potentially buying back the vehicle. at $14,400 i would have a hard time buying a nice xfire, but if i fix mine it'll never be looked at too nicely with a rebuilt title
Right now it's still your car and they have to get everything back to how it was prior to the accident so tell them you'll accept that offer if they pay to have everything you installed removed in your old car and reinstalled in your new one. If they won't budge then, rip everything out of your car, take what they'll give you and switch insurance companies. I fought and fought and fought with Progressive over a deer hit and after a year, they finally caved in and were going to pay for the repairs but later decided it was to expensive to repair and totaled it out. I definitely wasn't happy either but you have to take the best they will give you. Stand your ground but don't let them just sit on it either. Unfortunately, when they're the ones' paying out of pocket, they don't want to help anyone out but themselves.
I respectfully suggest you expand the search radius to 500 miles. For replacing a car like this, a trip will probably be required.
And, I've found that autotrader.com has the most widespread use among dealers.
And, as the other poster said, the mods need a rider on your insurance policy.
Were the upgraded wheels damaged? Could you replace them with the stock wheels before the ins co takes the wreck?

How can a Coupe cost over 18,000???? Or was yours an SRT6?
Not being snotty - I really don't get it - since when are these cars THAT expensive?

What happened that caused the other guy to hit you on purpose?
Regardless, if you have it somewhere in writing that the other guy hit you on purpose, then here's what you do:
You call up his insurance company, and demand that they make you whole again.
If they say no, and state that they will not, then you tell them you will have a lawyer contact them soon, and they will be paying you considerably more than they would have if they would have dealt with you directly.
You then contact a lawyer, and get the ball rolling.
Also, have him go after your insurance company, too.
The other choice is to take Progressive's offer and then take the guy who hit you to small claims court to have him pay the difference between what you received, and what the actual value of your car was. If he has a job, the court will garnish his wages.
BC.
Dan I think the problem is what (local information vs 500 mile radius) the insurance company is using to settle the claim. The company I work for uses local resales including dealers to price out a total loss. They also include tax and tags. I've had two cars totalled in my family and I was surprised at how close the payoffs were in relation to what we could buy the same vehicle for. As for the aftermarket stuff on the car, take it off. They aren't paying you for it unless like someone said you have riders. Not sure about custom wheels. If you can show a receipt the may cut some slack on those. The problem with insurance is it is state specfic in other words what flys in Florida may be totally different in Maine. I also don't understand your statement that the guy hit you on purpose and his company wont fix your car? If he hit you then Progressive should be able to subrogate against them and get your deductible back. When all is said and done I'd bet the other company will settle within 500 to 1000 $ of what progressive quoted you.
Sorry this happened to you, its very tough with a car that started out at $37,000 in 2004 and one of those (an 04) you can now buy for under 10k

Yea really can't go into any detail on what happened, rest assured it wasn't my fault and i had never met this guy before awful timing put me in front of his rage.
The lawyer that i spoke with said that the other guy's insurance probably will claim that they aren't responsible because the guy hit me on purpose, they don't cover intentional damage or some BS.
The car's audio has all been removed, that's the first thing i did, i don't expect or want them to cover the audio, but all of the deadening and sound absorption is there to stay and will take a lot of money for me to redo(it's permanent once installed basically).
and yes the problem with the value is the location, blacksburg isn't really close to anything so finding the cars to begin with is becoming a pain.
Edit: and also the cars that i am finding are all much lower mileage than my car but there are a couple that are quite close, actually the $14,900 on autotrader is almost a perfect match for me but I am quite scared that i'll take their offer and go to find this car and it will be sold since it was the absolute cheapest one from my searches. The $20,837 is a 2007 gold but has 45k miles. (so basically the cheapest and the most expensive are both rather close matches)

Hopefully you have a lawsuit against him personally and end up with a car at no cost to you and plus some cash left over.

The other thing is that I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would be willing to help you out with locating and purchasing a replacement crossfire in that price range.
Heck, if there's anything here in CO, I'll be more than happy to look at it, and bring it to you, if you fly me back home.
I'm sorry about the accident, sounds like one real mess of an issue for you to deal with.
What company is his insurance company?
I'm about to guess Allstate, from the sounds of it.
BC.
I'm no fan of insurances companies, but none of them will insure a person who causes damage while committing a felony. That is what our 'uninsured motorist' coverage is for, among other things.
Be thankful you weren't hurt. A small thing, but important.

Like this one.
vladd - not to change the subject but I know what you mean "in the middle of nowhere". I did promotion for a record company way back when and I went to a station in Blacksburg and there were cows grazing on the station lot something you never saw on this side of the Beltway. Good luck with it vladd.

A 2007 limited for $21K WITH 45K MILES????!?!?! Those prices are insane, you caould have an SRT coupe for less than that with less miles in damn near perfect condition, even a roadster.
May I kindly suggest, as others have, that you expand your search and if possible, wait till it gets colder, I bought mine last January and STOLE it.
Good luck Vladd

after a lot of reasoning from my father i think we're going to start discussing buying the vehicle back and fixing it up, the extra money would be nice to make the car exactly how I would like it.
