i am planning on getting a crossfire in the next few weeks. ill be getting rid of a wrx sti for it. i wanted to see if any of you owners of a crossfire wish you had gotten something else instead of the x fire for whatever reason.? What are some things you dont like about it (if anything)..such as design, perfomance, comfort...

Travis:

There have been a few other threads on this topic, but as for me, I am really happy with my Crossfire!

I would like to see some more electronics (Sat Nav, digital screen controls, etc), but that is personal opinion.

GO BUY IT!!!! You will like it!!!

Take a flashlight with you and crawl under the car and inspect the inside walls of the Michelin tires. They have been infamous for bubbles. Make sure yours doesn't have any before you drive it off the lot. Or have them put it up on a rack for inspection.

Default none at all...

i am kind of like you....i gave up a performance car (02' M3) for my crossfire. i don't regret it a bit. M3's are a dime a dozen in the suburbs of columbus, ohio. i got sick of seeing myself at least twice a day on the roadways. the crossfire is still a rare car to see in my area..maybe 2 around town so far. the look of the crossfire is very unique...i love it! you will miss the power but it's nice to not feel like you have to drive fast. i have changed the suspension on my crossfire to aid with the change from an M3. i do miss some of the amenities of the bmw...memory seats...tilting side mirror...bi xenon's...supportive seats...a true cup holder

but once again the crossfire is not a 50k car either....you won't regret the change! the build quality of the crossfire is superior to the sti.

cheers!

Here's a link to the time sheets for my last autocross. You cann see by the times that one M3 was a little quicker than me but another one was quite a bit slower. I would say the crossfire holds it's own against the BMW M#s. http://www.beachcomberscorvetteclub....07-04final.pdf

i've had mine 6 months/8k miles. done some serious cross-country and lotsa city and it's a great car.

maybe i'm different. i bought it because i like it, not because it impresses other people. it is a nice conversation piece. guy parked next to me at flight school monday in a 56 mg. we talked about HIS car.

speed: this is a powerful car. 0-60 @6ish and 150 top is fast but there's always someone faster no matter what. my bike will cream anything on 4 wheels but so what?

the good thing about the cheap-fast kids cars is that you pull up next to 'em on the highway. they get all excited and you've got instant "bear bait" for ten miles. (for my friends across the pond; the first car over the hill gets the ticket. the second one cruises by with a stylish smile 8) )

the overall quality of the car, fit, finish and materials is very high. let's not forget, it's a mercedes.

i fully expect that i'll have this car for a long time. long after the cheap-but-really-fast cars have been hauled to recycle.

Default ouch

the M3's in the speadsheet are old body M3's (e36)...not the newer e46 M3 with 333hp.

all about the driver...right?

No regrets here, best most fun car I have bought for the money involved. Had my share of English Sports cars and Corvettes and this is by far the best thought out, quality "fun" car there is. Of course I'm older and wiser now, and things like comfort and quality mean more to me now.

Regrets?, I've had a few, but then again - to few to mention....

Actually had two, - one 6 Speed, 1 Autostick and didn't have any problems with either one. Didn't like all the shifting so I traded. Could use a little more power (as always), but other than that its a great car. Fun to drive.

I have no regrets. I LOVE this car! My only concern is if I have to attempt winter driving in the X-Fire. I have a PT for rain & snow, but not sure if I plan to keep two cars.

If I decide to cut back to just 1 car, I will definately keep the X-Fire...

I got more attention from my Crossfire than my black 2001 Porsche 911. Its something about the retro design that captivates people. They don't really care much about the speed except that they think its fast. :-)

Cyril you cant be more true!!! so many people just think by the looks the car is INSANELY fast! and even once they are in it... and if they truely dont know a 4 - 5 second car ... they instantly think its 0 - 60 is about 5 seconds ...

I still like Porsches but I'll stick to my Xfire for the looks and remarks!!!

good way to pick up chicks too

I love mine too! So much fun. But, it does get a little old answering questions about it all the time and everyone wants to race. Everyone wants to know the price. I had a guy ask me, "What's a car like that cost...60-70k?? Hehe.

My perspective after being a Crossfire owner for two weeks:

I love the car more every day.
I like the autostick more every day.

Backing out of angled parking is totally blind.

The radio is very lame for a car this fine. No CD changer, no MP3, and the sound is boomy but lacks actual bass punch.

Regrets; only a small one, one week after buying I read about the 2005 models having an optional Nav system and maybe MP3 player.

There is perfect room for a touch screen DVD Nav/GPS/Climate Control/Audio video MP3 system on the center console to replace the radio and climate control center. But the 2005 will cost more.

Having been caught out by 'launch' models before, I have opted to wait
and have put my name down for the SRT-6 in the UK for an estimated
early 2005 delivery.

It is very hard knowing the car is a year away at the moment, but I
personally feel it's better to let the dust settle and for teething troubles
to be sorted.

I do still have a concern over the box being auto on the SRT-6, but will
give it the benefit of doubt until I can test drive a pre release model.
If it's not all it should be, I'll revert to the Coupe and 'tweak it'

I hope to do the back to back manual / auto test drives in the next couple
of weeks as no dealer close to me can currently offer both, so I have that
to look forward to.

I too would like to see SatNav etc included, I feel it should be standard in
all cars over a certain value as it adds to road safety in my view.

Although we have this wonderful site to visit, the UK market will open
up many different areas for Crossfire ownership, meetings, reviews etc etc
so without wishing to detract from Crossfire Forum.org, you may care to
visit my work in progress aimed at helping those potential and current UK owners.

There is only a taste of things to come there at the moment, but I hope people
will enjoy it and contribute to it's development.

You can check it out at http://www.crossfireuk.info

I'm not a "car person" so I don't know/nor care greatly about 0-60 in 5,6,or 7 seconds. I just found that I smile and really love driving the crossfire. This fourm has been an added accessory to the car that has made the short comings of the car easier to deal with.

Yes, it has blind spots but a thread pointed us to a government site that had us adjust the mirrors differently and that helps when changing lanes once your used to the change.

Yes, the radio display was washed out on my July purchase crossfire but crossfiretech pointed me to the TSB and I had the dealer replace the radio.

Yes, the brake dust is a pain but I'll us the greenstuff pads next time around.

Yes, the cup holder is not friendly to all cups but you pick the one that works best and your on your way.

Yes, the window switches seem backwards but I'm used to it.

Yes, the radio sound may not be the "best" but my Creedence Clearwater Revivial sounds great to me.

Bottom line, Idon't regret buying the most expensive vehicle I ever owned and I would do it again. Check the forum everyday and go out and enjoy the day!!! :P
