Transmision Probs, not "limp mode"
Hey guys, I searched the forum over and over for info on this, and did not find anything specific to this problem. I have an 04 coupe automatic. I accelerated hard then let off the throttle at about 60mph, the transmision seams like it downshifted hard (felt like I stabbed the breaks real quick) then the car went into neutral. I pulled to the side of the road, used the auto stick to shift into 1st, and I had full range of transmision again. I put it into drive, and drive worked as well through all gears. I did not have any code lights come on, but the "traction controll" light was dimly lit. I pressed the traction controll button several times, and it would only cycle from dimly lit to fully lit. Everything is functioning fine now, but I would like to fix this prob, any ideas?

Have you had any trans work done?
How's the fluid level?

Edit: How many miles?

FYI the procedure to check the trans fluid level is krazy.
I just added another quart of fluid and all has been fine since then.
The trans fill tube is covered by a "one time use" locking cap. You CAN reuse it. Just keep track of the tab that you have to break off in order to remove the cap. Use that tab to relock the cap in place.
NOTE: Make sure you use the correct type of trans fluid!
If you put too much fluid in it will just get burped out of the trans through a vent (according to Professor Woody).

Maybe they do. If you are going to service it---DO IT NOW!!! There is a point of no return, and you just leave the fluid in until failure of the transmission. When I had my repair shop, I would tell my customers that the fluid is ALWAYS cheaper than the part the fluid is in. If you do service, replace that known seal that I talked about in my last post.

I would recommend the stealership because this will be a canned price, well other than the seal. My dealer here is $10 more than a quick lube place down the street. Good Luck!!!!!
