They recommend not going through a car wash. I'm assuming it's cuz the bristle's could pull up or create a tear in the dipped wheel. But power washing your wheel won't do any harm to it. So just hand wash your car instead. But it holds up great. Most people can attest to it being on their car for around a year with no issues.
If you havent already, go to dipyourcar.com on youtube and Fonzy shows you everything you can do with plasti dip, including dipping your whole car, which he has a video showing him dipping his audi. Its great stuff

Washing by hand is better anyway, you can get all the nooks and crannies that way.

The 5% is what I had too and he wasnt very happy. Im thinking 35ish will be better. I gave my 1 1/2 year old a ride yesterday and hes pretty pissed that the sun is on him all the time now lol

It looks good Tim, now you just got to get the door handles and the rest of the rims ... IMO at least I think it would look sexy as hell with the rims all blacked out with everything else.

I was also going to say you might want to look into lighter tint, lol being as I had what looks to be the same (pitch black), but then I realized your an officer? The car behind yours kind of looks like the naval base PD here.

I actually attempted to do the handles but they looked like butt. However, I do plan on spraying the rims soon. Yeah, I'm a popo . lol

I went through the touchless car wash all the time with my old car and the plastidip on the wheels stood up fine. They were white so I would have seen if the silver underneath peaked through... I also did quite a few different coats to get them to shine, specifically 2 coats white plastidip, 2 coats white wheel paint, 2 coats clear

Yeah my handles look like a$$. The outsides not bad but when your at it, looking down, the inside isnt very pretty. And that must be nice.... not having the chance of getting a stupid window tint fix-it ticket ...... lol eventually Ill have a lighter shade or something.

Wanted to thank Sk8erJosh for posting this originally, as I despise chrome or anything remotely close (think it's a hereditary allergy as my father was the same way). I am a little timid about the doorhandle/vent flares? (not sure of what they are actually called). It is unclear to me how to get the flares off.

I really like the way they came out!

No problem at all, I am the exact same way.... Chrome? Noooooo not ever on my car, I respect it too muchlol.

The "vent flares" are called Strakes. Those are very easy to Plasti Dip in place, just tape off a square about 2" all the way around them and coat it really good. Wipe off overspray and when you go to peel off the tape it will lift up on the edge of the square. At that point just peel it all off and dont worry about the paint on the strakes being peeled, it wont come up unless you pick at it.

The door handles are impossible to do in place perfect. I didnt remove them, but if I did I would just use a rattle can and actually paint them. I just did mine in place and unless you are looking at the backside of the handle then it looks pretty good.

Just remember, if you mess up, take it all off and try again. Thats the beauty of it.

Edit: Looking good by the way on the rims

Good luck,
Josh

Also, plastidip has cans of paint as oppose to the spray version.. it may be easier to use a brush on the door handles, or at least the backside

My window trim was vinyl wrapped when i bought it.

They must have been wrapped a pretty long time, cause they looked like crap.
Took them of last week and getting them back this week, painted black like the rest of the car.

What i want to mention is: It took me over 10 hours just to take the vinyl-wrap off.
So if you start counting hours painting is cheaper

This Plasti Dip stuff is a very cheap solution..... (they should have me as a part time salesman)... If for whatever reason it doesnt look good, peeling off takes about 1 minute rather than 10 hours.... and it looks very very good... My window surround is wrapped though.... I like the CF pattern on it...

haha yeah they were a little tough but I did the plastidip then went over with white wheel paint and then again with clear coat... all the layers helped to keep it a little cleaner.. but hey if the wheels get dirtier than soap and water will get out, just spray another layer of the 'dip
