Noisy Interior
I am considering buying a Crossfire. I took a 2007 coupe with only 10,000 miles for a test drive. The road surface was not bumpy but the pavement was very coarse. The noise inside the car was deafening. Sounded like I was inside a drum. I wonder if the four year old tires were the culprit, or if all Crossfires are on the noisy side?
Thanks
Thanks

We drive the roadster and with previous tires we did get a lot of road noise. That just told us it was time to get rid of them. New tires + 5000 miles and we do not have any extraordinary interior noise.
How is the tread wear?
How is the alignment?

Many tires get louder as they age. Some tires are just noisy right from the start. But remember, the Crossfire has some of the widest rear tires in the industry, so a little more road noise is to be expected.
If you're looking at a 2007 model with its original tires, I'd guess that's where most of the noise came from.
I'm on my 4th. set of different brand tires, and every single set had their own distinct sound.
I've owned a couple dozen sports cars over the years, and with out a doubt the Crossfire "coupe" has been one the most comfortable and quiet of them all.

it's all about your point of reference.
what did you drive to the test drive, and did you drive the same roads?
I found the crossfire noisy at first.
but, I was used to driving my sl500.
a larger, heavier, quieter, and softer riding car
the crossfires and the slk's it was derived from, are smaller, sportier, noisier.
and I might mention much more thrilling and exciting to drive.

I find the car is terrible when driving on concrete. Macadam not quite as bad. Either way, it's not going to be limo quiet. Sound deadening is not one of this car's best points.
My SRT6 is harsher riding and noisier than my roadster. There is tire noise with each, but that is part of the charm of a sports car. We bought a 2007 coupe for my son three years ago and I do not recall it being unusually noisy. When you shop for new tires, have the discussion with the store about road noise. Different compounds can give off different levels of road noise, so shop around. I suspect harder, longer lasting tires are noisier than soft rubber that wears faster.
