Airbag light is on
Re: Airbag light is on
^^^ Now this is hilarious
To 180SRET, I agree with 180 in that it seems suspicious they told you its that when its a part thats never used... But if they came back and assured you it is that then maybe you just got a defective part, either way I hope it works out, and keep us updated.

Airbag light is OFF! Ordered a used (of course) airbag module from Kudauto (somewhere around Chicago), cost including shipping was $102 Can. Dealer charged $278 to install and reset. Must be a bum batch of modules out there. Just trying to figure out if I can get it apart and take a look. Good luck to those that may need to do this.

Re: Airbag light is on
having been in there to see the door bag, and watching Rudy remove my steering wheel...I still think someone damaged the unit. let us know what you find while looking into it. These aren't parts that usually malfunction...would be good to know... Always disconnect the battery when working around the air bags...
Re: Airbag light is on
My codes are 1B-00 passenger airbag on/off communication failure and 01-00 airbag module internal failure. One code can cause the other code however after 1.5 days the tech says its narrowed down to the airbag module, a $2900 part. That said, they will install a used part if I can get one. Anyone happen to have a spare kicking around?? Haven't talked to MB yet. Also fix for the cig lighter is a new unit, $280 installed. So far all they have charged me is the $129 Diagnostic fee.
On a side note, Chrysler said there was a 3 year, 60000 km warranty on the module, also covered under extended warranty. I'm SOL on that front. Hope this helps out. I'll try to search the part #.

Re: Airbag light is on
I had a similar problem but in my case it was a burned wire caused by a short and it also fried the airbag module...cost so far is over $300 to isolate the problem and the new module cost $2,650...so you guessed it I am without airbags at the moment and the crossfire is off-road until I can find a used module at a reasonable price.
Re: Airbag light is on
It looks like I have a lead on a used module from MrMoPar for $185 ....hopefully that will solve my problem ....only have to disassemble the dash one more time......getting to be so often that I can almost do it blindfolded.....I wonder how many times I can do it without breaking a part???
Re: Airbag light is on
I just took my car to the dealer because the Airbag light was on. After putting it on their computer they told me that there was no response from ORC Pin #13.
To fix it they would have to pull out both seats and the center console as the module is located under the console
. Cost to me would be $900-$1,000 with no assurance that that would fix the problem. Bummer

Re: Airbag light is on
As long as the airbag is ON, I would cut a neat circle of gray duct tape and place it over the annoying light. The same trick with black tape works for a CEL on my 2003 Audi A6 2.7T (due to codes for cats, which were replaced but the code keeps returning) and for TPMS light on my roadster. Unless you're packing a baby in the passenger seat, if you hit anything hard enough to fire the driver airbag it won't matter if the passenger air bag joins in. The car is effectively totaled at that point.
