Tranny question
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem.... I noticed that when the car is still cold, when I start out from a stop it feels like the transmission is popping back into gear, even though I never moved it out of Drive. Happens when first starting off and also at stop signs/lights. I have a 2004 XFire with the automatic transmission. Once the car warms up I don't notice this anymore. any thoughts????

The car is in gear, normal driving, I come to a stop sign. When I take off from the stop it feels like it had slipped out of gear and pops back into gear. I don't know how to better explain it, just feels like it slipped out of gear and then pops back in when I accelerate from a stop. Like I said, this is only true until the car warms up.

I was figuring that's what would be the result. I'm finding the quality of this car to be quite questionable for the $35,000+ I put out. I've read many post on this board with people having some of the same other problems and issues that I'm having. Some rather expensive to correct, such as the flimsy front bumper that gets damaged easily and costs close to $900 to fix when hitting a piece of rubber on the freeway. I'd think for this type of money that at least the bumpers would withstand rubber and the windows would roll up properly so the doors would close all the way. Can hardly wait for my first $100+ oil change[/list]

For what it's worth, my first complete "Schedule A" service (2 days ago, at ~8600 miles with 300 to go according to the computer) was $75, minus 10% for a web coupon from the dealership's web site.

The problem your'e talking about sounds like the electric throttle why it's doing it only cold might be the tranny fluid being cold.Ask your dealer to keep it over night and drive it cold.I have felt a slight clunk in the tranny feels like downshift very low speed almost rolling under 10mph.
LordPercy, I expect to be able to give you a good number next week. My roadster is supposed to be leaving the factory on August 30th. The dealer is going to give me the build number as soon as he gets it. I'll post it when I get it. It will definitely be up in the 20's.
Someone in the Roadster Forum said their build # was 35000+
darice57: I had a small accident and it was actually cheaper to replace the front bumper than to repair the original. Cost about $450.00.
And actually, for a brand new vehicle, I don't think we have had all that many problems. I think you will find most people posting here are quite pleased with the quality. Except for the manual transmission problem, which appears to have been only in the early build numbers, the problems really have been minor irratations.
The most important thing is to find a dealer that you are comfortable with!!!! That seems to be the biggest problem the owners are reporting here.
