X-Fires and Harleys
Re: X-Fires and Harleys
Strange, I have a '64 fury taken apart in priimer that I have a rebuildable 440 and 727 for. A 2009 Nightrod with 700 miles that never gets ridden in Black w/orange stripe and a 2004 xfire coupe in white. Our dog is medium in size, a mutt, and is like yours, black.
and last (2) 1/10 scale monster trucks capable of up to 60 mph depending on what gear and battery I'm running in them.
Re: X-Fires and Harleys
Back tire is a foot wide, full race cam, ported and scuffed heads (works better than polishing on shovelheads), 5 angle Manley valves, solid lifters, full race .550 lift cam, 2-1 custom headers, forged 12:1 pistons, S&S stroker crank and overbored, Accel electronic ignition, S&S racing carb, Barnett race clutch and 5 stud basket, 5 speed Revtech trans, etc. etc. and the motor was built by a guy who used to run top fuel Harleys. With the sprockets in it now, it tops out at 143 mph at the 7000 red line. Very few Harleys will rev even to 6000 RPM's. It has embarassed many a Jap bike rider - much to their amazement.
Re: X-Fires and Harleys
This one would give you a run for your money. It's got a license plate on it now because I have a friend at the inspection station (LOL), but it was my drag bike and knock off 10 second runs. I once blew off a Pantera with it, and had a passenger on it at the time too!.

Re: X-Fires and Harleys
Honda Scrambler : too heavy and underpowered to compete.
Honda CB305 Super Hawk : They finally got it right with this baby.
Honda Dream : appropriate name ; the designer was having a nightmare when he thought of this one.
I was Triumph/BSA guy at the time ; 1962 Bonneville, 1963 TR6, 1963 Thunderbird, 1964 Bonneville, 1964 BSA Gold Star, 1966 BSA 650 - can't remember the model.
The '62 Bonneville was pre-unit construction ( separate engine and tranny ) and was magneto ignition - another nightmare.....
The nicest bike I bought during that period was the first year Honda CB750 - I'd have to say that was probably the first Japanese 'super bike'.
Re: X-Fires and Harleys
I had a few friends back in the 60's & 70's who had these. I remember the Scrambler, but don't remember the names of the others. I was never a Jap bike guy. My first bike was a Kaw. Bought it brand new, nothing but trouble. Ride to work, haul it home on a trailer. Next was a Yamaha. I little better, but not what I wanted. Then I bought a HD Sportster and rode that for more than a decade. I finally traded that in for my 80 big twin HD which I've had now for3 decades..

Damn you got them all right, I thought it would be more challenging than that.
You pegged them right as far as performance. The Honda Dream seems to be my favorite to ride around on, I feel like Pee Wee Herman. Honda must have been on Crack when they designed that bike, it's just weird looking, but sure gets a lot of attention.
People that know bikes are drawn to the Superhawk. We used to put big bore kits in these and surprise bigger bikes. Never owned a Harley yet. Owned a few British bikes, worst bike I ever owned was a 1956 125 BSA Bantam, it was my only means of transport and almost stopped me from riding bikes for the rest of my life.

You get attention when your pants fall off in a parking lot, but getting attention isn't always a good thing.
Put a Harley on your bucket list. They're an experience all they're own. Kind of like driving an SRT-6. They both get positive attention.
