Look at the picture and count the fuses that are in the fuse panel under the hood. (picture 1)

Are you talking about the fuses on the Relay Control Module. (picture #2)

You missed the BIG fuse box under the hood on the driver's side.

Now I feel like a dummy. I went and checked and pulled 9 and they went off. So what does that mean? It's the locking pump in the back?

I'd say just means the Positive charge side of the system is not shorted out with another positive feed. (If you pulled that fuse..as noted originally.. and still had lights.. there's a mouse in the system somewhere.. LOL) Switching on this system is done with the negative side.

Back to your regularly scheduled program..

I'd be looking at the security/pump module in the trunk.
Open it up and look for water damage.CLICK

This is my plan for this weekend.. after I get done at the dealers with the TPMS programming on mine.

Lighted roadster door sills will be so much more appealing.. with lights..

If it is that, do you think it would count as user error for warranty purposes? Or more manufacturer defect?

And just to clarify, the lights come back on when I put the fuse back in.

Is it possible that the noise you hear is louder if you put your head close to the pump module in the trunk?

I couldn't make sure, because when I went to take it to the dealer this morning, the neighbor's gardener was here. But that may be the case.

I dropped the car off this morning at the dealership to have them look it over. Called at 4 to check on it, and they said that they hadn't figured out the issue with the lights, but the check engine light (which has been coming on and off the past few weeks) was indicating some kind of relay was messing up. They said that they had to call Chrysler to figure out what was going on with it, but that they called too late in the day so it will spend the night there.

It's not a promising start that after being there 6 hrs today, they were only able to pull codes and they couldn't decipher them. I told them about fuse 9 and that the trunk was making the whine noise.

Really not too impressed by these guys honestly. Does anyone know of a good reputable shop in Bakersfield, CA that they could recommend for future repairs? I found one called European Performance Automotive that has some good reviews on yelp. Anyone know anything about them?

Well, I guess I was wrong. Two things that they said were wrong with it.

For the check engine light issue, they said that the problem was that the relay control module was bad, so they have to replace it. I'm wondering if I somehow indirectly damaged that when I was playing with all of the fuses in there .

As for the dome light issue, he said that there is a short in the dome light housing, and that the part to replace it is $1100.

Luckily, I have a warranty through my bank where I have the loan for the car, so I will just have to pay a $250 deductible for all the work, but holy **** is that alot for a part. Either way though, they can't do anything until monday because once again, they were slow in calling people, and the warranty place is in Chicago, and was closed when they tried to call from California. So I really hope that both issues will be covered, or else I'll still have to pay 270 for them to do the dome light diagnostic and pull the codes from CEL and end up with a car that is still having issues.

As it appears you believe the dealer instead of what you have read here I will not bother anymore with this thread.
$1,100 will be spent and the cause of the problem will still exist. You are being taken to the cleaners, expect to pay more than $270 in the end.

They said that there was a short in the dome light housing. If that isn't the case, then they can figure out what the issue is and repair it. Make no mistake, if the insurance company approves the repairs, I will pay 250, and the dealer will keep replacing things until they get it right. I'm not paying 1100 and having them throw the car back at me with the lights still on.

When they call back on Monday, I will make sure that they did look at the CLP in the trunk and made sure that everything was fine with that.

Edit: Just to add, I'm not sure what else I can do at this point. If you said that it isn't something to do with a short in the dome light housing, then what do I tell them? To recheck and check the locking pump for water damage? I'm kind of stuck here. I don't want to have them looking all over the place at things and then have them or the insurance come back at me and say that I owe more money because the extra looking wasn't covered under warranty. I'll tell them that I want both old parts back, and maybe they will change their tune if they're trying to scam me. But I'm genuinely asking how to go about asking them to check the trunk if they think it's something else.

I would have to wonder if they are just being vague with you myself.. those $1100 dollar dome lights are listing on Ebay for 90 bucks.. "Short"..maybe their lay mans term is for the CLP.. as in a short to ground through it..

Cause I don't see it happening here.

Umm quick question.. Did it rain that day or night that the lights came on and stayed on? Think about it and be sure..

My bad.. "It never rains in California"...

Okay off the oldies station.. per internet.. 0.00 for the month.. did you by chance wash it..?

I don't think it rained that day that it turned on, and no I didn't wash it recently. Even if it did rain, it's not what you non-Californians would think of as rain. Where I live, we less than an inch of rain a year I think.

I'll go down to the dealer on Monday when they call and see if it is replacing the actual light module. If it is, and they want 1100 for it, I'll tell them to give me 1100 and I'll get them the part But you may be right that that's just what he said and that it is the CLP in the trunk. Guy I've been talking to isn't the mechanic, just one of the service reps, and they have no clue what they're talking about.

So... Dealer finally called back today and let me know that everything was covered under warranty. They are having to order two parts...
This and this.

Now, when I went back to the dealer today, I had to get a parking permit off my window, so I did see the car. They had the fuse boxes open under the hood, and the interior was torn apart on the passenger side. The lighted door sill was sitting in the front seat, as well as the light assembly. But the locking pump is on that passenger side, so maybe they did check the wiring back to it and it looked fine.

Now I just have to wait and see if the new dome light assembly fixes the issue I guess.

I just can't see why these would help the problem.

He did have a cel lite up on him for the relay..

Now if this replacement courtesy lamp fixes the lights.. I will definitely swap mine out into the roadster.. guess that would be one way to verify.

Yea, the relay was for a different issue, although it may be related as well.

But holy hell is that light expensive to get from Mopar. I guess the guy wasn't kidding when he said it was $1100 part. Jesus.
