Crossfire: Locked out of your Coupe?
Locked out of my 2005 Crossfire Coupe. Found out both of my keys did not work. Lights blinked when using either key fob, but the doors would not unlock. Researched it online and found a posting that said to use a 10mm wrench to remove the 2 hood latch bolts at the top center of the grill. It took a while, but I was successful. Once the hood was open I jumped the battery with another car and was able to use the key fob to open the doors & was able to start the car. Reassembled the hood latch and lubed it and closed the hood. Then I could not get the hood open. Took it to a local Chrysler dealer and they said something small was keeping the hood latch cable from releasing the latch. They replaced the battery also. Previous owner or lazy oil change person only had 3 bolts holding the skid plate on. Chrysler ordered the bolts $22 + I ordered some touch up paint - $17. Total cost at the dealer for fixing the hood latch, replacing the battery with a MOPAR battery, ordering and installing the skid plate bolts, and touch up paint > $266, which I did not think was to bad or high.
Car is kept in a insulated garage and the car is covered. The car was not started or driven in a few weeks and it was very cold in CO. when all of this happened. Now that it is fixed I never lock it in my garage and I leave the drivers window down far enough so I can get my arm inside to unlock the door. I also plan to at least start it or drive it every 3 to 4 days.
Looking for a floor mat cap on the passenger side and contacting a glass company to polish a wiper scratch on the passenger side of the windshield. A little touch up paint and this car is perfect!
I have one 18" OEM rim with outer road rash > the other 18" rim is fine, and two 19" OEM rims with outer road rash > plus all 4 center caps if anyone is interested > I have the boxes also. I was able to find 2 - 18" and 2 - 19" OEM rims at another local Chrysler dealer for $400 + $100 at a local tire place to mount them.
Love the car > it is a blast to drive and is easy to get a ticket in.

Back in the day things were much simpler and I have not forgot what keyholes are for. LOL

I remember that thread.. but have never disconnected my battery to see if key lock works or not.. makes sense though.. no juice.. no pump.. no unlock.

It was concluded that if the key does not turn or does not unlock the car there is another fault.
Using the key the lock opens mechanically. Using the fob the lock opens pneumatically. The lock is not electrically operable.
